Program Description
Teaching Position:
As a volunteer or an intern, you will be responsible for helping to teach courses including human rights, cooking, history, geography, mathematics, and English. You will follow teachers and learn about the curriculum, children, and school policies for the first week and then, if you are comfortable, begin teaching independently for the second week. You will also have the option to continue being mentored. Volunteers will also need to read books to groups, grade and assign classwork and homework, and discuss any issues with the children with counselors, administration, and parents.
Volunteers may also be expected to assist with administrative duties that include helping classes respond to pen pal letters, typing out exams, help procure teaching materials, talking with parents, and helping out in the office. Volunteers are welcome to bring their cameras and laptops, especially those staying longer periods of time.
