CGTN
China Global Television Network, or CGTN, is China’s new international media organization. It was launched by the national broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) on December 31, 2016.
By launching CGTN, we want to re-brand our product to the world, to cope with the global trend in media convergence.
CGTN English is the flagship channel. The strategy, “Mobile first”, aims to fulfill the demands of global viewers and users for easier access to content on different platforms.
With an international team of professionals from more than 70 countries and regions, CGTN is an investment in the future of news media.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily and weekly planning for 'XXX' rolling news show
Meeting show planners to discuss and finalize play out plan
Proposing new editorial angles for top news stories
Supervising rundown order, suggest modifications
Writing and approving special elements like graphics, stylized visuals, informative packages
Providing unique show format ideas
Discussing debate questions with the Anchor and Chief Producer
Overseeing anchor links to ensure smooth transition between stories
Focus on breaking down complex news items to improve storytelling
Evaluating content in daily review meeting of 'XXX' and propose improvements
Providing innovative solutions and creating exclusive show elements
Working with writers, copy editors to improve writing skills
Paying special attention to on-screen texting like Headlines, Story Slugs and other promotional elements
Ensuring editorial sharpness in our debates on top stories
Working with production team to enhance on-air visual quality
Discuss and finalize visual presentation of top stories with video editors, producer
Preparing short-term and long-term reports on all aspects of program production
Providing suggestions to our reporters' team to improve input quality
Proposing creative ideas for overall news presentation
Suggesting innovative concepts for effective use of our TV studio
Requirements:
Bachelor degree.
5 years of experience in news reporting or gathering, preferably at an overseas TV network.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experienced at responding to changing circumstances and breaking news. Remains calm and patient under pressure.
Strong interest in China and APAC countries.
Positive approach and proactive working style.
Must be able to work irregular hours and work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require.
Fluent English speaker.
