Job Description

The Zhejiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology is looking for a foreign language teacher to teach university students English listening and speaking, this fall.

Located in one of Zhejiang’s nicest cities – Shaoxing – Zhejiang college offers teachers a great opportunity to expand their teaching experience and skillset with older students.

Whilst the school will provide the teaching curriculum, we’re looking for a teacher who is able to teach not only English, but also foreign culture. If there are any teachers willing to bring materials or create lessons plans based on things from their own country, that is a definite plus.

We’re offering an alternative experience in China, one which isn’t caught up in the hustle and bustle of a big city, but which is located in the charming locale of Shaoxing, where the weather is great and the nature even better!

Your Tasks:

• Teach English to University Students at the Shaoxing campus;
• Create and teach lessons concerning English and foreign culture;
• Teach 20 classes per week (45 minutes each);
• Assesses students’ work and provide feedback;
• Remain current with the requirements of the university and faculty standards.

• Speaks English at an idiomatic level;
• An ability to develop lessons which cater to a range of different leveled students and are interesting;
• A positive attitude with good organizational, presentation and teaching skills;
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of English speakers;
• An ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations;
• Someone looking to become involved with the life of the school.

Foreign Language Teacher Working Hours Hours:

- 20 hours per week (20 x 45-minute lessons), Monday to Friday.
- No office hours.

Salary/Benefits

Foreign Language Teacher Compensation:

• A Monthly salary between $1,300 - $1,500 USD (8,000 - 9,000 RMB), depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Zhejiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology:

The Zhejiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology, is a full-time independent college of higher education, approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education.

Currently, the college has 10 subordinate schools and 1 department, these are the School of Business, School of Information and Engineering, School of Humanities, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Architecture, School of Design, School of Science, School of Tourism (affiliated with the China Travel Service), School of Continuing Education (Adult Education of Zhejiang branch), and the Department of physical education and military training.
There are 35 undergraduate specialties, covering engineering, science, literature, law, management, economics, and art. These were all set up in combination with the economic requirements of Zhejiang Province and its social development. Now, nearly 7500 undergraduate students study at the college. The college awards a diploma from the Zhejiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology and also grants a Bachelor’s degree if the student meets the requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or above. A Master’s degree or PhD is preferred;
- At least two years teaching experience is preferred;
- Possess either a TESOL, TEFL, ESOL, or CELTA certificate is also preferred
