Science Teaching Fellowship

The brightest and most motivated Somali students from the Horn of Africa are educated in the boarding high school of Abaarso School. Students will be prepared to be successful in their future endeavors including higher education. This school features community service and engaging extracurricular activities. The student community is encouraged to be responsible and mature young adults. Abaarso School has been highly influential and successful within the region in the six years it has been open. Two classes have graduated thus far and led to 47 Somali students going to prestigious schools and 30 going to schools in the US. Sent to study on international scholarships, Abaarso School has sent students to Carnegie Mellon, Amherst, Georgetown, MIT, and others.

We are currently looking for motivated individuals who would like to dedicate at least a year in helping, instructing, and mentoring high school students. We cultivate an environment of students first and making sure that the school continues to grow and expand. We are working with issues found in the developing world, but this is a very fulfilling post. Teachers will work anywhere from 50 to 70 hours each week as they work on projects including helping student groups, holding office hours, preparing for classes, and teaching. We have many avenues open for motivated and successful staff members.
