Gi2c was great!

Gi2c was great, I would not have been able to survive there on my own over so the service and overall helpfulness allowed me to experience China in an unforgettable way. I learned so many invaluable things at my placement and made great lifelong friends. The insight and work ethic I gained through my time in the company will stick with me as I go about my everyday life.

My working experience in China

A degree from university is important, working experience is necessary, but more important is that you have some working experience abroad. I got known foreign culture, business styles and learned a new way of communication. That′s a big benefit for your career, but also for yourself.

It was brilliant. I really liked this job.

When I was looking for internship, it was very good that Gi2C was online. There were cheaper and they just have good reviews. I had an internship in the company “Web Presence” in China. It was brilliant. I really liked this job. I guess, just actual, experience in a real work place, it’s nothing at all like you go to university and not even more close to it. It’s a real good deal to do this kind of job.

Suitable for my requirement criteria

When I came to the China for finding out some job employment regarding business development, I had no any idea about the Chinese business market. I decided to first find out the organization which can give me some brief idea about the China and its business culture. After doing a deep research on different internship organization, I found this one more suitable for my requirement criteria. They gave me many brief session about the Chinese business culture and I got all the answers regarding it.

My internship in China

My experience in China helped me to understand the Chinese culture and I learned how to react in a business context. Gi2C found a internship that met my requirements. Gi2C was also helping me to find a very good accommodation in Beijing and gave to me a lot of advice to avoid problems. All these aspects were helping me to enjoy my stay in China. Moreover, when I had some administrative problems the staff of Gi2C helped me to fix the situation.

I wish you all the success in the future.

Internship Review

My overall experience with Gi2C is good. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. In terms of this internship, I would recommend the future applicants to think more carefully of what you want to gain out of working abroad, and do some research online before discussing with staff in Gi2C, so that they could better assist you for what you really need. I interned in a global PR company in Beijng. I would say the company is great, and all co-workers are nice. However, I found I didn't like to do PR very much. Well, it is also good to find out what I do not want anyway. For one problem I think Gi2C might be able to adjust a little, which I think the program fee and all activity fee are kind of pricey, that is also why I did not participate those events very often.

I would definitely recommend this company to my friends

Throughout the internship at LehmanBrown, I have been analysing the data of the digital SEM and SEO campaigns across all key search engines (Google, Baidu, Bing and Yahoo) and giving input on the social media strategy for the company. At the same time, I wrote articles for the website and a specific Accounting & Bookkeeping handbook. By so far, I have learnt how to use the application of digital marking like google and bing adwords. I specifically enjoy writing articles for an Accounting & Bookkeeping handbook, it was a big really task for me as I have to do a lot of research on the internet in order to put something accurate information in it and I ended up finishing off with two big articles and one interview section. Moreover, LehmanBrown has also provided me a few of chances to join a few of conference calls with other interns from Shanghai and Hong Kong to discuss about the market strategies of the social media and what I have gained is that marketing is not only one person, it is about the whole team. I also met a few interns from different countries here and I believe that that would be great for my future career specially working in a bank. On the other hand, I would like to also like to say a huge thank you to Gi2C who brought me to China and obviously found a job for me. I really enjoy the activities organised by Gi2C especially the HuTong trip. Unfortunately I am leaving Beijing soon and I could not have a chance to meet other new interns. But in generally, Gi2C is a good company and I would definitely recommend this company to my friends when they are looking for a job in China.

Internship at Shanghai China

The program was great, everything went smoothly for me. Gi2C was very organized and was able to help me with various different issues in Shanghai. The only flaws I would say is that, there aren't too much work at the internship, the job can be quite dull,

My Month in Beijing

Before I go on I want to clarify a couple of things, for one I did my internship in the year 2015 but no such option was available in the review form with the latest year apparently being 2014. Secondly since I was not part of the premium package I cannot rate the living conditions because I was staying in my own accommodation. This was my first internship as a whole and to intern in a company abroad made it all the more interesting and difficult. The guys at Gi2C helped explain everything to us at orientation day which was followed by a duck dinner which was also delicious. I also met and made friends with a lot of new people that were also interns. I would definitely recommend this internship to all those who want to broaden their horizons and gain some work experience in another country but there are some things to consider. This was my first internship and thus first chance to work for an actual company so I made many mistakes that made some problems for me during my time in China. My advice to anyone reading this review would be to carefully review the firm you're interning with before actually arriving in China and ask as many questions as possible so that you don't face any errors when you do actually get here. Also I would suggest to try to learn some Chinese before coming to China and also make a list of things you would need as soon as you get to China and plan ahead as to how you will actually buy/acquire them. Apart from that if you keep those things in mind before actually arriving you'll have a blast, the program is excellent and the people at Gi2C are also very helpful.

Interning In Beijing

I had to wait at the airport in Beijing for three for my airport pick-up. Most of the activities were postponed or did not take place. The activities I did attend were informal and unprofessional. Gi2c do check up on how the internships are going, but on two occasions I asked Gi2c not to get involved and disclose certain concerns I had about the company I was interning at and both times without my permission Gi2c messaged the company without informing me. I had a few issues with the workload and responsibilities given to me by the company, but overall I enjoyed my internship. Gi2c could have potentially ruined the relationship and trust I had built with my colleagues at my company on two separate occasions. In conclusion, the program is overpriced and is lacking quality and service.

Hats off to GI2C

In short, Shanghai is awesome. Everyone should come here at least once as it's just too much fun. The internship was good and I have no complaints. It was well organised and I always had work to do. I worked in a company specialising in Far East Asian Tax and did learn a lot about the tax systems in these countries. Hats off to GI2C; they did a great job!

Working for a music promoter in the metropolis Shanghai, a new oriental adventure

Shanghai, China was a new experience to me. I did my exchange in Asia before, but not China. First of all the internship that I had was pretty diverse, worked in a nice diverse team, learned a lot and I have even been inspired. Concluding it was an experience never to forget. Gi2C certainly helped me very well by arranging this internship partly. At first instance there were already some issues concerning getting the visa for China, but Gi2C kept on searching for other options and supported me with this problem. Once in China I experienced some issues concerning my internship, in a day Gi2C arranged two new interviews with a good end. Also later on I faced some health issues because of the air pollution. Everything ended well, because Gi2C helped me really well. Furthermore they organize nice day trips in Shanghai, are willing to help with issues, are kind and easy to contact. I can definitely recommend this program, because they help you really well by arranging an internship. I know how difficult it can be to arrange an internship. I am a very well organizer and have an eye for detail by nature, but for some nationalities (even west European!) arranging a visa can be very troubling, Gi2C helps with every aspect where help is needed, China is a beautiful country overall and an agency can just be that little bit more you need to get that great internship into the pocket a bit more easily. Last but not least China is beautiful, interesting, mind blowing, shocking, wicked, a great teacher, everywhere and something you won't forget.

Amazing Professional and Social Opportunity in 2015

I have never thought about going to China in the near future, especially living in Shanghai for a while. It was my first time in Asia, and the idea of living in a city with 26 million people was scary. China surprised me in every single possible aspect! I loved my experience in China and especially Shanghai. It was really hard to leave. My internship could never been better. It is an american startup company with a small good located office. A very multicultural company and friendly environment to work. I could firstly experience marketing tasks and it really got me interested. I am happy to come to China through Gi2c Company. The Customer Representative staff are very friendly and helpful since the beginning of the process. I had the pleasure to go to many fun activities with Tanya and later Chirstel, exploring more the Chinese way of life. I appreciate specifically Christel's help when I needed it. I don't think I would have this amazing experience without Gi2c support.

I’ve never met so many like-minded people before

I was a lot more nervous at the beginning because of the language barrier, because it’s a foreign place. But it’s been really nice and everything’s translating in English. So it’s been a lot easier than I thought. Every weekend we’ve planed events so it was much fun. …Shanghai is very busy and very crowded, I like it and I really like people I’ve met here. I’ve never met so many like-minded people before, especially those from Gi2C and working at Shanghai Metal Corporation. Everyone here is here for a reason, for example for their career. So having a lot of like-minded people coming from all over a world I liked finding new bars, grab can of beer and just chat, I miss that. Working environment at Shanghai Metal Corporation’s very strict. You must get here 8:30 am not 8:31. Meeting starts at 1pm not 1:10. So it’s very disciplined. It’s really serious and I liked it a lot, I’ve learned from there a lot.

A Consulting Internship In China Completed in 2015

The Chinese company where I am currently interning at is a consulting company. Its main goal is executive recruitment and consulting. My field of focus is to contact and recruit potential manager candidates for multinational companies. I know the basics of what I need to know about my job but still need more guidance and experience when it comes to approaching new potential candidates. Hopefully, at the end of my internship, I will have made strong connections as well as gained hands-on experience and knowledge about international commerce and business. I chose to intern in China because it is the fastest growing economy in the world with endless opportunities in the labor market for multilingual workers with an international orientation. Also, I have already been in Shanghai for an academic semester, thus I am somehow familiarized with the city and living conditions of this country. What I've learned about China so far is that it is a very progressive country in many aspects such as infrastructure, technology and commerce, but it is also very backwards in other areas due to its lack of exposure to the external world. People live here through Confucian cultural codes like "Guanxi" and "Mianzi" and abide by a communal way of coexistence. I didn't do much to prepare for my move to China as my previous experiences from studying abroad had already prepared me. My former Chinese teacher was pretty helpful in finding me a place to stay and picking me up from the airport. After I told them I was going to intern in China, my family and friends all thought it was a great decision and opportunity for securing a potential full-time job overseas. I chose Gi2C Group to help me find an internship and provide support because I thought it was the most convenient way and medium to get a foot in the door in the companies that might capture my interest.

A little but shocked, but fine

It’s definitely been a culture shock, comes you down to “this is China”. Being in the art, as an artist, the places I’m interested more than Great Wall are Museum of Modern Art and 798 district, amazing places. Subway runs perfectly here, buses are every 10-15 minutes so it’s easy to reach any part of Beijing you need. I use to hang out with my co-workers, I’ve been eaten at places you’ll never see on a map but food there is definitely better, and it was easy coming back to my apartment because I was living at 798 area, no need to explain address to taxi driver. I’m definitely satisfied with support from Gi2C, they helped me with apartment and found a good placement. From my internship I gained experience of communication with different people, understanding different cultures. In Australia it’s kind of expected more that you work from 9 to 17 and you have to be very prompt back from your lunch break, everything’s do like yesterday. However in China working schedule is different. I can’t say Chinese are not working hard but concerning working hours it’s probably just shorter. Btw, always take note of what particular locals are doing, Chinese people are nice but there are a lot of scams who'll be happy get your money

There is always something to do in Shanghai

I just finished my graduation, had a look around about some internships in different locations and I thought China could be a good experience. So I choose Gi2C program. I did it because I remember going to a few kind of careers conventions when I was still in university and career specialists said smth like that really small people were actually having an internship. For companies if you were doing an internship it sounds like very good because if you have university qualification it's fine but being in a work structure is very different. Btw, working hours in China are different, it's longer here. Concerning my experience in Shanghai. Shanghai is very modern and it's always very busy, there is always something to do, some new parties are going on or some new exhibitions to see. In the same time life in Shanghai is much cheaper compare to place where I came from. Metro system is very good it can usually get you wherever you need to go or very close to that place, taxi cabs usually are pretty cheap as well. Btw, food is fantastic, you can get very good meals here very cheap. It's also good place to try different fruits. About agency. Gi2C definitely helps to reach gap in communication, helps with Chinese classes which can be quite helpful if you want to know the basics. It comes easier to adapt to the city after learning some basic Chinese. Gi2C also organized some social events where you can meet some new people and explore more about Chinese culture. So after all my advice is: being here try to travel as much as possible, explore the culture so much as you can, it's maybe once in a lifetime opportunity so make the most of it.

China is great!

Gi2C seems for me very professional provider, I’ve got phone call just after two hours after leaving application at their website and we got Skye interview very next evening. Within 24 hours after interview I’ve received an email that they found internship for me. I was picking up from the airport, taking to my accommodation, taking to the bank when I needed, orientation dinner was great as well. So I definitely recommend the program especially if you have the same field, international business. As for me interning is all about gaining work experience in work environment which you often can get a lots of things of practical experience through your studies alone. Also internship in China obviously gives you an opportunity to experience Asian business environment. My company hasn’t give me too much responsibility initially which was totally understandable but even after week in a half working here I’ve seeing kind of increasing of responsibility what I’ve been given. In my company they are really strict about working hours, when you are arriving to work, when you are leaving work you have to be in a minute, you can’t leave office until 6 pm, you has to leave your finger print, that’s interesting. They are strict about money as well but in the same time they can take you to dinner at very expensive place and spend a lot of money for it. All interns here have an opportunities travel around the country, my flat mate is in Shanghai and he is doing the same internship. There are no chances that if I’m doing my internship in Sydney I would have opportunity to travel to another parts of Australia. Also here I feel like my work is really important, it means a lot for me even I don’t suppose to live to work, but work to live. China is great, it’s a bit colder than I used to but I got used to that. Beijing city is the place of contrasts. Often I’ve been walking down the street, saying “Wow, this place’s amazing, I really like it!” and then after turning round the corner I was thinking “What am I doing here in China?”, then turning another corner… OK, pollution here is tricky but the food and people are amazing. When you are having conversation with Chinese they are really genuine and nice people. My company has offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou as well so I want to check another big Chinese cities and go to Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Gi2C Business Management Internship review

My basic purpose in China was improving my Chinese which I reached, I suppose, and yes, my internship. It’s before you are diving in an actual job you got to feel how it’s actually going to work in a company. It’s a very valuable experience which you can take mostly interacting with people, local people of course, at your workplace or outside of work, in a bars for example. Doing my internship I got a lot of work, got myself very busy, probably because people here really focused, really hard-working. And it was a lot of fun. So I’m happy with placement Gi2C found for me.

Marketing and Social Media intern in Shanghai

I wanted come to China because a marketplace is really amazing here, I knew I can experience a lot of things in China. A lot of articles a read says if you want to do good professionally, go to East. Speaking of professionally I’ve learned a lot, working environment here is really good. I’m looking forward to do more as young specialist in China because I really like to work here, all my colleagues are young professionals. To be honest I didn’t expect much, I was skeptical, outside it was pretty unsure, it seemed like a fog in front of me. But after I came here with Gi2C, after I joined the company, after I met other people I felt really confident, I was ready to go and work hard, it’s really suited me. Speaking of work, it started pretty well from the day one, pretty interactive by my colleagues, they were really helpful, they are professionals and the work environment was very professional too. I’ve gained a lot of marketing experience through this internship ‘cause I have done my MBA from London and I don’t have any work experience previously. With this internship I’ve came through the working environment, I have learnt and I’m learning a lot of things related to marketing and advertising. I think like it’s the right platform, this internship, for the young professionals to start of your professional career. Working environment in China is really amazing, Chinese people are very dedicated, very hard working so it’s good to work with them. Every day you can learn something from them.

My Contemporary Arts and Design Internship in Beijing (Gi2C)

Back in 2014th I was looking for internship and then I came to Gi2C’s website. I was thinking firstly is it good or not good agency to work with and I was reading reviews. By looking for information about internship on my own I found out that it’s really difficult and after all I have choose to apply to Gi2C internship program. My advice for newcomers: be prepare to have a cultural shock, you have to adapt to the environment, you have to adapt to the transportation. Just think carefully why do you want to go to China and after that have fun and enjoy your time here. I’ve been wanted come to China because I wanted experience a life in Beijing and of course for to do the internship. I heard that a most of people from Europe and America who come here to do internship enjoy it because the life is cheap and most of time you even can attend some payment for the internship and it’s good benefit for you. People here are very nice, the city is quite big and even transportation from time to time can be scary because it’s very busy here, you have to fight to get on the transport. But Chinese are soft people and kind and nice to be honest. Chinese food is really nice too and there is healthy food as well, I can eat everything here, taste is nice to me and, well, food is really cheap here. Getting around in Beijing isn’t expensive at all and it’s really easy. Accommodation provided by Gi2C is fine and very convenient. It’s shared accommodation, there were three of us, it’s full furnished modern flat, clean, we had cleaners coming twice in a week. In my opinion internship is mostly important because of learning. You learn theory at school and university, and you have opportunity to put it to the practice during internship. When you are looking for a job you should be able to show in your CV that you already have experience. Without experience you can’t find a job. I’m happy that my company gave me proper project to do. I was doing internship at interior design so they gave me project which I had to design three bedroom flat in Beijing and they gave me choice to put my own personality there. We worked with team so we shared work but they gave me opportunity to do what I want to do, I appreciate it.

Thank you Gi2C

I do recommend going with Gi2C because they really do a lot for you. It was nice to be picked up from the airport, and taken to the accommodations. I was assigned roommates that were also starting internships, so I instantly had friends, I wasn't alone and I appreciate it. Gi2C also hosts dinners and networking events with all of the interns and it helps a lot. In addition they are helping you at anytime of the day if you need a translator, or directions, or help planning trips. I wanna say thank you for that. Once I called my manager in the midst of the night because couldn't get on a taxi on my way home and he helped me even he was obviously sleepy. Gi2C is definitely legitimate and I had an amazing experience while in China. I would recommend it. I would recommend any student go for the 2 or 3 month program. I did it. The first month you are settling in with your company and the second and third month is where you really begin to form professional relationships with your colleagues. No worries about language, each intern is assigned an English speaking supervisor even if company isn't foreign owned. It means the intern will always be able to communicate with someone in the company. I'm more than OK with my company, but some of other interns have mixing feelings. I guess it can be lack of sense of reality or too big expactations. Life and work in China has nothing to do with our previous experience. Also some companies are just better than others, like in the states. Btw, Gi2C does a great job if you are not satisfied with your company helping you find suitable position to complete internship, I saw how they did it to my roommate. I bet anyone with an open mind would love this opportunity. Btw, I received a really good recommendation and it helped improve my CV. So thank you guys from Gi2C, good job!

Feedback

It was a wonderful experience to be able to do my internship in Beijing, China. It was my first time to step in a foreign country, so I did a lot of adjustments in way of living. Let me start with the people. I was grateful to meet peope from different countries doing internship as well. Also I found Chinese people friendly and helpful. The weather was cold and snowy because it was winter time when I arrived, so I had to bundle up every time I go out. When it comes to food, I feel comfortable eating Chinese cuisines. Their primary food is noodle, but some restaurants sell rice which I usually order to satisfy my hunger. In China, tea is a popular drink instead of water. Fast like McDonalds and KFC serve tea instead of water. Like in the Philippines one of the modes of transportation is the train which they call it “subway”. I didn’t didn’t it difficult to use their subways as I was used to it. Initially, I have experienced culture shocked, but having the opportunity to come here was an unforgettable and delightful experienced.

Great professional growth opportunity

Completed on March 2015; this internship was a fantastic opportunity for me to expand my network and gain an international working experience in a dynamic market like the Chinese market; I have nothing to complain about the in-site assistance (even if sometimes the service wasn't elastic in conditions) but the program fee was maybe too expensive for what you get. Excluding the fee aspect I would really recommend this internship as a way to have a personal improvement deriving from the experience abroad in a so different culture like Chinese culture and as a professional improvement as well. Working here was fantastic, my company made me feel important for them, giving me even more responsibilities and letting me adapt in the best way possible; I've never felt the "cultural shock" thanks to them and I found so many kind people during this experience , making new friends and creating new work possibilities for the future.

Gi2C is not a bad agency, but be careful!

Gi2C is not a bad agency, but make sure you triple-check everything yourself as well. I had a very bad experience with Gi2C, because the company I interned at had nothing to do with the company that was presented to me beforehand. The company presentation (Skype Presentation by Gi2C, Website Link, written job description) was very misleading in my case. Both Gi2C and the company itself share the responsibility for that issue though. I stayed in a hostel the entire time I was in China so that I cannot comment on their living facilities. Gi2C seemed to have a good amount of Social Activities and Networking Events planned for their interns. The direct support is the only good aspect I experienced while being in Beijing. I was able to get a hold of my contact person at Gi2C (almost) 24/7 with (almost) immediate support. In fact, all the employees in the Beijing office are really nice. During the orientation the interns get valuable information about the program and China as well. I only clicked on the "no, I would not recommend this program" button, because of the misleading company presentation and the fact that Gi2C was not able to find me another fitting internship while I was in Beijing. However, I must say that I had very detailed requests for my internship so that it was hard for them to find me a new place within one and a half weeks. They really tried though! I know that negative reviews are being read more often than positive ones. So, I want to make sure that my message is clear... ... Gi2C is not a bad agency, but be a little careful.

Good working experience in Shanghai

I completed this program this year, 2015. They offered me a really great working place, which I really loved. However, operations over the Mandarin language program were not satisfying.

Beijing Marketing Consultant Internship Review

PROGRAM REVIEW I am lucky enough to have studied abroad before in Shanghai under another program to understand the cultural dynamics and the differences between Western and East Asian culture. This time around, I simply opted for the standard internship and not the premium package (going all in on cultural immersion) because I have done most of the cultural experiences already when studying in Shanghai. I am also able to find my own place to live as well as attend independent social events. However, I felt like there should have been a few, if not some, social events coordinated by the program, to enhance the program experience and to unite participants for the time being - help them (us) to be more well connected. It should not have been additional costs, but a part of the program features and benefits. INTERNSHIP REVIEW I like the opportunity of the company that I have completed my internship with, but I just wished that there were more technical skills to be gained from the internship rather than presenting skills. Initially, it took a good 3 months for me to secure a good internship I was looking for, so it took some time and patience. I am satisfied with the internship experience with the company - I did 1 month. I suggest doing 3 months if you are looking for employment with your company and it gives them time, to see if you are a good fit.

1 month internship

Without being able to find any feedback on GI2C's services I entered into the program not knowing what to expect. I felt like just another number in their whole process, especially after I had paid the program fees as they had already got their commission from me and from this point there was basically no backing out. But took it all pretty easy as I thought this was the culture in China and was ready to experience this. The steps on their website were followed as they stated (send through details, pay for the program, received details to apply for a visa etc etc) but I was passed between different staff at GI2C. It would have been nice if the first person I spoke to said they would now pass me onto ___ instead of getting a random email from the next person in the progression line. Although the website does state all the relevant information it is very hard to read and some of it very misleading. My examples being: - Accommodation - the pictures look great but it never states that you will be sharing with others (I thought I would have a studio apartment to myself, especially after paying so much) and to make it worse I was staying with two girls who actually live in Beijing, yes they used to be interns but they had no enthusiasm in exploring Beijing as they had been living there for ages - Payment - the information was spread across a few different pages so I was confused about the different costs and added fees (as some feedback it would be great to put all of the costing's together just to make it easier to understand) - Networking Events - only being in Beijing for a month may have had something to do with it but I was only offered one networking option to attend and this event was aimed at the finance and commerce sector which is basically useless when I am a marketing graduate - well out of my field - Charity Volunteering Day - didn't attend (guessing it will be organized after I have gone) - Language Lessons - I had pre paid these lessons before coming to China but once in China I knew that with my work hours, the long time it takes to use the Subway and the late nights after finishing lessons that I just wasn't going to be able to keep up with it all. My name wasn't even on the teachers list for language classes and GI2C hadn't even paid the school for my lessons but I wasn't able to get a refund. I am well aware that this is in the terms and conditions on their website but the owner at the language school advised us that she is often saying that language lessons are too much for interns to keep up with but GI2C still recommends them when they really shouldn't be. Another intern in the same program as me also had the same difficulty which is really unfortunate as it ruins the whole experience of learning a new language and also makes the language school look bad - Getting to the Introduction Day - once dropped at my accommodation it was suggested to me that I should catch a taxi in the morning to GI2C for the introduction day as it would be quicker than the Subway and I wouldn't need to stumble my way through getting to know the Subway. Sounded like a great idea except for the fact that taxi drivers don't like picking up international people. Not only did I have to use the Subway anyway (which was super simple and was what I was prepared to do in the first place!) but I was nearly 30 minutes late to my first day. Not a nice feeling! On positive notes: - Accommodation - was in a nice area and they were serviced twice a week so kept quite clean and saved me from washing my own towels, sheets etc. The owner even pointed me in the direction of an international supermarket so I cold buy a few things (with English writing on the packs) to get me through until I learnt the area and some of the language - Airport pickup - was as described. Tommy was waiting there with a GI2C sign that was easy to see and I was taken straight to my accommodation - Internship placement - the company was as described - Welcome package - received this at the introduction day (would have been nice to get some info on the phone package that is offered - had to ask a Chinese person at work to explain what the contract was) - Visa assistance - they supplied a letter and a detailed description of what to put on the application - Duck dinner - was delicious - Orientation and city tour - was a good experience - Great Wall Tour - was amazing (unfortunately the tour driver was three hours late at picking us up - nothing that GI2C could do to prevent this as it was organized through an outsourced company) - Karaoke Night (KTV) - still yet to attend (tomorrow night) - Check-in emails were sent and we were constantly advised to make contact with GI2C if we had any issues My company seemed like a really nice place but it is not targeted towards my field of work - Marketing. I received my first offer but declined it because it wasn't marketing orientated in which the company came back with a revised list of responsibilities which were better targeted towards my interests. Little did GI2C or myself know that it would normally take a month to complete these tasks, whereas it only took me just over a week so they had nothing else for me to do. I did ask if I could sit with the marketing team in the office but they are all Chinese so I would have no way to understand them. The tasks they give to interns is based around tax, international property purchase and visa applications - so again well out of my depth. I wish I had picked up on this sooner I could have changed company's earlier to better suit my needs but that wasn't something that either GI2C or I could see coming and being in my last week there wasn't much that could be done which is totally understandable. However, from the group that started at the same time as me I know of at least two others who have had to change company's which is not such a great sign! Overall I feel that the one month package is not worth it. If you want to actually have tasks to do at work and to be able to take it all in then you need to spend at least 2 months in China. I really don't know why the 1 month package is even available. For me it has been a waste of time and money considering how expensive the 1 month package is and how many things I didn't get to do. Although the internship will look great on my resume I haven't actually learn anything new, expect for the really odd culture of the Chinese!

one month in Beijing

I didn't have very much communication with the agency.. The internship company is a small start-up company, and the colleagues were very nice to me. In the beginning I had very much to do, but then the workload was ok. I didn't participate in any social activities, so I can't say very much about it. But I do feel the price was too expansive. If you are not a premium package holder, you have to pay for each activity.

A very complete experience

Just 3 months..it feels like I have been here for a year. My experience in Shanghai has been a very interesting one. I had much fun in this city, I met tons of people everyday in parties, meetings or any activity I had done including the excursions organized by Gi2C which some of them were great. I also found many challenges I had to overcome as dealing everyday with a totally different culture and specially working with them, but at the end if you get to know them they are great people and very helpful. Other challenge was my internship, it wasn't what I was expecting, here I think Gi2C should had known better how the company's situation was and what was in it going on because the situations in a company can change due to management decisions and that can affect the situation of the interns as well...but i turned it over and the bad situation of the company helped me to to develop skills I didn't know I had. Besides my "disappointing" internship my experience with Gi2C was good and Tanya, our coordinator in Shanghai, is always very helpful and tries to make your stay as satisfactory as possible. This was a great personal and professional experience.

A Great Experience

The internship overall was a great learning experience for me, I immersed myself in the culture and working habits of the Chinese and I have gained an amazing insight into basically a whole different world to what I'm used to. Gi2C assisted me with any issues that arose efficiently and I had and I would definitely recommend this program to others. I've had a once in a lifetime experience here and I've met some amazing people, I'll miss Beijing a lot.

1 month wasn't enough - professionally.

I believe that my trip to China was very valuable, personally. I have experienced a lot of the culture in the month that I was here and this part of the experience I very much enjoyed. The trips and activities organised by Gi2C were mostly the highlight of my time here, especially the Great Wall tour.  Professionally, I believe that 1 month here, was too short. I don't think I had enough time to prove myself in the Law Firm and therefore the tasks reflected the fact that they didn't know much about me besides what was written on my C.V. The people I have met here have been amazing!! It has definitely been a culture shock but I would recommend this programme to anyone looking for an adventure!!

Crazy but valuable

My experience in Beijing was, above all, a great contribution to my personal development. I met some great people, I visited some cool places and I had to 'deal with' the Chinese culture. For me, Beijing is too crazy, too crowded but I enjoyed it for a few months. And GI2C was there when I needed them.

Gi2C: Gateway to Another World

Well, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when I came here -- but I got it! Job experience, language lessons, sightseeing and travel opportunities, personal growth, networking: it's all here and more (I'm probably forgetting something!) When I was researching internships and I came across Gi2C, I was a little skeptical that I could not find any negative comments (constructive feedback, ya know). To be honest, I had my "ups and downs" here, but the program pretty much delivered as it states in the terms of the agreement. What you need in coming to China is an open-mind and a willingness to embrace differences. Oh yeah, and I did not find out until two days into the program, but you also need to buy a VPN! And if you're using an Apple phone, you should be pretty well covered. I use Android exclusively though, and ran into tech difficulties: I bought my phone here (so I wouldn't have to wait on my American phone being unlocked), and then it turns out it's an off-brand Samsung model that is not supported by Google Play. So, all those American (ENGLISH!) apps that I wanted and could have used were not available. I never did quite arrive at the solution, so do your research on phone use and internet use before you come!
