Program Description
In Guatemala, there exists a network of public health services, free of charge. Also, only 5 km away from Quetzaltenango, there is a health center, where local inhabitants from the city or surrounding communities can obtain free health service. They offer basic health care like doctor’s consults and baby´s vaccinations, and growth monitoring. The health posts only work with daily consults, they don´t receive overnight patients.
Volunteers are always needed at the health posts. Volunteers often work:
- Vaccination room (vaccinating babies), checking their height & weight
- Assisting the doctor in consults if you have medical & Spanish skills
- Many other daily tasks

Highlights
Most help is needed in the mornings, so it's perfect to combine your volunteering with Spanish lessons in the afternoons, which is a nice way to improve your Spanish but also learn about the Guatemalan culture.On the weekends we can organize nice trips to surrounding sites.
Qualifications
A beginner-intermediate Spanish level is helpful (enough to understand the instructions of the therapists). To improve your Spanish, we suggest online language lessons with a private Guatemalan teacher.Volunteer Types
