Volunteer at a Physical Rehabilitation Center

Program Description

We support the importance of physical therapy and recovery for everyone and to accomplish this, we have partnered with an organization that offers free rehabilitation sessions to those in the local community. Special education, hydrotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy are offered to children and adults.

They accept all patients who were disabled from birth with Down-syndrome or after traumatic accidents.

Volunteers who have prior experience in this field can help with physiotherapy. However, it is not necessary to have any background in this field and we are happy to welcome volunteers who can assist the therapists and also psychologists.

Highlights

This project is only open in the mornings, so it's perfect to combine your volunteering with Spanish lessons in the afternoons, which is a nice way to improve your Spanish but also learn about the Guatemalan culture.

On the weekends we can organize nice trips to surrounding sites.

Qualifications

A beginner-intermediate Spanish level is helpful (enough to understand the instructions of the therapists). To improve your Spanish, we suggest online language lessons with a private Guatemalan teacher.
