Program Description
Bordeaux is a beautiful, rich, and diverse city in southwestern France, less than an hour from the Atlantic coastline. Known as “Little Rome” long ago, it is the capital of the Aquitaine region and is famous for its wine production. With numerous architectural gems, public gardens, museums, and other heritage sites such as the Cathédrale Saint-André and the Grand-Théâtre.
The Middlebury School in France offers an exceptional academic program to undergraduates at U.S. colleges and universities. Students who have completed five semesters of French language training are invited to participate in the program under the Middlebury Language Pledge®, a commitment to speak exclusively the target language for the duration of their time abroad.
All students engage in at least one extracurricular activity, such as an internship or volunteer work, and take their courses alongside French students at one of our host universities:
- Université Bordeaux Montaigne
- Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux (Sciences Po Bordeaux)
- Université de Bordeaux
Our goal is to provide an enriching academic experience and to give students the best chance of actively engaging in their new environment. Linguistic development and cultural understanding are at the core of the Middlebury Schools Abroad, and students have many opportunities for immersion.
