Institution description:
The CUHK International Summer School (ISS) provides university students with an exceptional opportunity to combine high-quality learning with an unforgettable summer experience. While attending, students can learn and live alongside other academic achievers from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. International students can immerse themselves in a multicultural environment and gain insights into Asian cultures, experience a unique learning environment on the green, spacious campus of CUHK outside regular term time, and enjoy the many pleasures of summer in Hong Kong – Asia’s world city.

Every summer, some 600 students attend the ISS; about 70% of them came from 35 countries/regions around the world, such as Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, the U.K., and the U.S. They made the programme truly international.

The ISS runs three sessions from June to August, including a three-week June Session that focuses on business and China studies; a five-week July Session that offers courses in business, China/Chinese studies, Chinese language (Putonghua and Cantonese), engineering, environmental studies, humanities and social science; in addition to a three-week August Session that offers language training in Putonghua and English. All courses, except Chinese language courses, are taught in English by outstanding academics from CUHK and prestigious overseas universities. All of these academics are excellent teachers and many of them are research frontrunners in their respective fields of study.
