Program Description

The Dandelion Cultural Exchange Program offers young people from around the world a unique,
close-up look at Chinese life and culture. Participants live with a Chinese family and form lifelong
friendships with their host parents and siblings. Below is an overview of the benefits our program
participants enjoy, the qualifications we require for our applicants, as well as a list of frequently
asked questions regarding the program.

1. Between the ages of 18 and 29 (outstanding candidates outside of this age range will also be
2. At least a high school graduate (or will graduate before the start of his/her EB program)
3. A native English speaker or proficient in English
4. No criminal record
5. Committed to participate in a 2-,3-, 6- or 9-month program
6. Positive, loves children, open to other cultures, passionate, flexible, assertive, willing to adapt
to new situations, cheerful, understanding, tolerant
7. Eager to learn about Chinese culture

What`s Included

1. Room and board (3 meals per day), free Internet in the host family’s household
2. Chinese language lessons (6 hours per week); except for the week each month on which the
month’s cultural activity is held; see below
3. 1000 RMB/month stipend for personal expenses
4. Program completion bonus
5. Monthly cultural activity;
6. Personal accident insurance throughout the entire program, covering treatment for sicknesses
which require hospital stays and treatment for accidents
7. 24/7 emergency contact
8. Welcome Package (transportation card, SIM card, and more), airport pickup, and orientation
