Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

This is a humanitarian religious institution, offering social services to disabled, abandoned and elderly people, offering them a home and medical service. They have an average of 250-300 patients, divided into 9 areas, receiving specialized care, physical and psychological therapy. They also receive medication, clothes, and meals, but above all, lots of love and care. There is also a special school for disabled children, and there is an external clinic for medical consultations for the population of limited resources. Also, medical missions are organized many times, where people from the area can benefit from. The institution belongs to the Franciscan Friars.

Tasks of the volunteer:
- Giving a lot of attention & love to the patients
- Talking, playing, helping with the meals, get them dressed will make these people's day!

In this project you will work from 8:30 am to 5 pm but you can choose between mornings, afternoons or both, so it's perfect to combine your volunteering with Spanish lessons in your free time, which is a nice way to improve your Spanish but also learn about the Guatemalan culture.

A beginner Spanish level is helpful (enough to understand the instructions).
To improve your Spanish, we suggest online language lessons with a private Guatemalan teacher.
