Program Description
2 week programme with 4-10 volunteers.
Every morning volunteers work in pairs with a local volunteer translator in Family Type Homes. These Government run homes are normally 2 or 3 bedroom flats where between 4-8 children live. The majority of the children have some form of intellectual and/or physical disability and many show signs of Instituitionalised Autism due to their upbringing. Volunteers use play, group and individual activities and we teach a technique called Intensive Interaction with the children to provide stimulation and to contribute to their development.
Volunteers will also visit a local adult institution based in Cezieni village twice a week. Here volunteers can do group activities and use sensory materials with the adults.
The project is very challenging but it is so fun and rewarding and you can instantly tell you are making a difference to other people's lives.
