Program Description

School Placements:
Every single school in NZ is different in terms of the duties they ask their volunteers to perform. You will probably work in 3 key areas:
1) The Boarding House or "Hostel"
• Waking up pupils and getting them ready for breakfast
• Help get books ready for school and ensure dorms are tidy
• Accompanying pupils on extracurricular activities, school camps, etc.
• Act as pastoral support and house parent
• Assist with housekeeping and cleaning
2) The School
• One to one tuition
• Overseeing group work in English, maths and science and other subjects according to strengths eg. IT.
• Administrative tasks
• Assisting with swimming, assemblies, etc.
3) The Rest of School life
According to your skills and personal interests you should volunteer to get involved with the following:
• Music - Help with tuition, involvement in school band
• Drama - After school workshops, organisation of productions and plays
• Sport - Involvement in PE lessons, responsibility for coaching of school teams

Outdoor Education
Duties are assisting groups of young campers with the various skills and activities, such as rope-climbing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, camping, archery etc.

We have placements throughout the country in some wonderful schools and outdoor camps.

Qualifications

You must be finished with high school (but not necessarily graduated) and be between the ages 17-25.

Outdoor education placements will require a first aid certificate with CPR-C at a minimum. Some may require a lifesaving credential as well.
