Volunteer in China - United Planet - Summer Teaching Program

Program Description

As a United Planet volunteer on our China Summer Teaching Quest, you will have the opportunity to participate in a 4-week program this summer alongside fellow volunteers! Not only will you have the opportunity to work with rural students on their English skills and educational development, your group will also work to promote environmental awareness around the community and experience life first-hand in rural China.

Volunteers on this Quest have the unique opportunity to foster friendships and understanding with individuals from around the world while cultivating their youth leadership skills through practical experience.

Highlights

Volunteers on the China Summer Teaching Quest will have the opportunity to teach English to primary school-aged children in the rural communities of the Hunan province. In addition to your volunteer work, the program also includes an orientation in the capital city of Beijing, Mandarin language lessons for interested volunteers, small treks such as hikes in the surrounding areas of your project site, and a dumpling cooking class!

Qualifications

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. There is no language requirement though a basic understanding of Mandarin can be helpful.
