Program Description

Brazil is a diverse country that is expressive, large, and has a wide range of people and landscapes. Take this opportunity to become a volunteer in Brazil as you work on programs that impact the local community in a positive manner. We want to promote intercultural exchange and to really make sure that everyone involved benefits greatly. The following programs are open to volunteers:

Sports, Design, and the Arts
Teaching English and Child Development
Ecological and Environmental Programs – work in community gardens
Help with NGOs and Development
Carnival Preparation in the Samba Schools as a season offering from November to January

Placements are open in 2014 and 2015 and you can participate from 3 weeks to 24 weeks throughout the year.

Students, groups, and individuals are welcome.

Highlights

Portuguese is the official language of Brazil and knowing even a few phrases will help you get far. Not only can you converse more on a daily basis but you can offer a lot to your project. We offer a 20 hour intensive course for Portuguese that will run alongside your first two weeks of volunteers for 2 hours each day, Monday to Friday.

There are many Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that we are affiliated with who benefit the individual communities that they serve. You will be able to have a cultural exchange as you give back to the local community.

Projects are situated in Rio de Janeiro and we are happy to create projects that suit your interests and abilities.

Qualifications

Volunteers from 18 to 60 yrs of all nationalities are welcome to apply.

All volunteers also need to do a Background Criminal check and bring a copy of it with you for the start of the project.

Lodging in one of our comfortable houses

What is not included are your flights and travel to Brazil, in-country transport (except for airport pickup), meals, visa costs (if necessary) and your own health and travel insurance. Please note that it is mandatory for all volunteers joining this programme to take out a medical/accident insurance to cover the duration of the programme.
