Program Description

The Vocational Training Centre was designed to allow students to achieve their dreams while enhancing their talents and individual inclinations. Each of these boys is extremely capable and looking to find a life path. The community lives very peacefully together as residents of this project.

A volunteer at the Vocational Training Centre should be ready to provide advice and instruction to help the boys achieve career goals. Volunteers are required to teach life skills and even guide students with resume building, job search, and preparation prior to an interview. Those who are interested in this volunteer position much be confident in their communication abilities, able to speak in front of large groups, and willing to create workshops.

Qualifications

Have experience with informal and community education
Be able demonstrate an ability to work independently
Be able demonstrate a passion for using education for development
Have the ability to successfully manage their time and prioritise tasks
Be fluent in English
Be capable and comfortable adapting to life in a less developed country with basic living conditions
Be able to adjust to life in another culture and a foreign language, and be able to work at all times with cultural sensitivity
Ideally have previous experience living, working or travelling in a developing country, though this is not essential
Be financially independent
Able to work under pressure
Enthusiasm to work with children using patience and understanding
