Township Nursery School Project

Program Description

Selected volunteers will work at one of many childcare centers in The Strand, 50 kilometers from the city center. Operating since 2006, the organization behind these centers takes care of around 1,800 children aged between 7 months and 6 years of age every year. Most come from nearby disadvantaged communities. The organization also offers training to unemployed women, crèche and community workers in child development and stimulation.
- Help staff at a Strand-based childcare center deal with a number of tasks including assistant teaching, caring for small children or babies, and more
- Help at busy meal times and be responsive to the instructions of head caregivers
- Entertain the children, engaging with them with learning tasks and even sharing aspects of your own culture

Qualifications

- A kind personality with a genuine commitment to the children's welfare
- Commitment to a 5-day (Mon-Fri) work week, volunteering from 8am to 1pm
- Minimum 3-week time commitment
