Teaching at a local school is not only a rewarding volunteering experience, but one of the most valuable contributions that can be made to a community. Our volunteers are placed with established community or public schools that are seeking enthusiastic and energetic assistance. Being understaffed and under-resourced is a common problem facing many local schools, and committed volunteers are always valued and appreciated. Volunteers will work with local teachers, fellow volunteers, as well as individually to educate children of a variety of ages. Subjects covered include English, Mathematics, Science, Art and Physical Education.

Teaching at a local school in Tanzania is an extremely rewarding and memorable experience. To witness the joy and enthusiasm on the faces of the children is priceless. To continue into High School in Tanzania you must first pass an exam in English. It is extremely important that all children have the opportunity to continue on to High School and volunteers have the opportunity to help them achieve this.
You will fall in love with the children - and they will love you right back.

Tanzania boasts some of the world's most beautiful landscapes and wildlife. Many of our volunteers like to take some time to take part in a Safari through the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Some more adventurous volunteers will also take the opportunity to climb Africa's highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro.

No teaching experience is required to take part in the Rafiki Volunteers teaching program.
