Teach Children in Schools and Orphanages

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Teach children of all ages in a choice of schools, orphanages and social assistance centres. You can help with English, Drama, Sport, Maths or Music. You'll act as assistant to the regular English teacher. You'll work in a school where the children come from a mix of class backgrounds. You will nearly always be an assistant to the regular English teacher.

You may be asked to teach children or adults depending on the time you're there and whether the schools are on holiday or not. You'll usually teach from 10 to 12 to 12 hours a week, in a variety of institutions during your stay, giving you a rounded experience. You'll have plenty of free time during your placement to enjoy all of the attractions that Buenos Aires has to offer!

TEACHING ADULTS (optional):
Teaching is available to adults all year round. Students here are usually 20 or older and are very eager to learn English. Adult courses are spread across a variety of institutions and Social Assistance Centres. You could be asked to teach adults of all ages. Often class sizes are small and you will usually be in sole charge of the class.

TEACHING IN CHILDREN'S HOMES, COMMUNITY CENTRES & ORPHANAGES:
You'll provide basic English teaching through playing or singing with the children. They are starved of affection, and volunteering in any home can be challenging but highly rewarding. It will help if you have a basic understanding of Spanish, but it's not a requirement.

Argentina is stunning! Many neighbourhoods have their own unique flair, such as the brightly painted houses of La Boca or beautiful Belgrano.

Highlights

FOOD: You’ll be given an allowance for breakfast and dinner (not lunch). This arrangement is to give you the flexibility to sample the great Argentinean food. Right on the doorstep of the hostel there are many cafes and restaurants with great priced menus just waiting for you….the choice is yours!

You'll share a dorm room and have access to kitchen facilities. The hostel has several amenities, like internet and WiFi, a common area, DVD room, library, book exchange and a housekeeping service.

ACCOMMODATION: You'll live a hostel situated in a beautifully renovated historic building in Downtown Buenos Aires, very conveniently located for exploring the city and doing shopping. It's big enough to be sociable and fun, yet small enough to feel at home; a real chance to immerse yourself in Argentine culture.

Qualifications

Minimum age 17, no qualifications necessary (just a good dose of enthusiasm).
