The Social Welfare project assist to formulate and implement social welfare policies within the framework of national policy. They are tasked to:
(a) Facilitate community-based rehabilitation of persons with disabilities;
(b) Assist and facilitate provision of community care services including;
(i) Registration of persons with disabilities;
(ii) Assistance to the aged;
(iii) Personal social welfare services;
(iv) Hospital welfare services;
(v) Assistance to street children, child survival and development; and
(vi) Socio-economic and emotional stability in families;
(c) Assist to maintain specialized residential services in the districts;
(d) Facilitate the registration and supervision of Non-Governmental Organizations and their activities in the district;
(e) Assist to organize community development programs to improve and enrich life through;
(i) Literacy and adult education classes;
(ii) Voluntary contribution and communal labour for the provision of facilities and services such as water, schools, library, community centers and public places or convenience or;
(iii) Teaching deprived or rural women in home management and child care.

Highlights

The vision of this program is to develop frameworks surrounding social care and support. During your period, you will use your knowledge and training to help in dealing with some of the following problems:a. Raising awareness and sensitizing communities on social problems
b. Asses and address the needs of rehabilitative support centers and deal with troubled children. You will have the opportunity to develop long term care plans and health practices for these victims
