Program Description
This programme offers a rare opportunity to work with a well-renowned conservation organisation within a Nature Reserve on Cousin Island, which has been central to the further protection and survival of rare wildlife species in the Seychelles. Depending on the time of year, you can take part in wildlife conservation efforts such as Hawksbill turtle management, monitoring and ringing of large seabird and land bird populations, as well as census of tortoises, skinks and geckos. Next to this, you can be part of habitat conservation by removal of invasive species and planting of native plants and trees.
Highlights
Accommodation:Volunteers will be staying at the volunteer house on Cousin Island
Free Time:
Volunteers can use their free time on the island to relax, snorkelling, guided sessions of stargazing, going to the beach and doing yoga. Once a month, the weekend may be available for travel off the island.
Qualifications
Volunteers should be minimum 18 years, and able to speak English fluently. One should be independent and with the ability to work in hard conditions with a positive attitude, and also able to work in teams.Volunteer Types
