Sea Turtle Marine Conservation Program Pacific Coast

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

There are a variety of projects up and down the Pacific Coast, although the main sites are in Guanacaste and Puntarenas Provinces. There are projects close to towns and others that are remote and require a 4/4 vehicle and/or boat. As a volunteer with this program, you will be a part of preserving sea turtles by registering and monitoring nesting patterns, keeping records of eggs while shifting eggs to the hatchery. You will also conduct beach patrols and free newborns into the ocean. You do not need prior experience but it is important that you be adaptable to odd hours of work including the middle of the night. A lot of time will also be spent on the beach. Many hatching happen from July to November.

There projects are open to groups and individuals since all volunteers provide an important service to these preservation efforts. Make a difference and help a vulnerable population.

Night flights delay the beginning of programs by one day so it is ideal if you arrive in San Jose in the afternoon or morning.
