Program Description

Sri Lanka is an island country in Asia which is notable for its diverse cultures, wildlife, heritage festivals and many more fantastic features. Sri Lanka, like many developing countries with amazing sights to explore, also has numerous challenges in several fields that need support and attention. AIAV has created these safe and affordable volunteering opportunities for individuals or groups to be able to live with locals, become fully immersed in cultures, work side by side with local staff on sustainable projects and still have plenty of free time to explore all that the country has to offer.

We offer programs covering childcare, assisting the disabled (deaf and blind), health care, elderly care and teaching programs for students, professionals or gap year takers to lend a hand to communities in need.

Qualifications

*You should be fluent in English.
*You must be 18 years old. Those under age 18 may attend age-appropriate projects with adult accompaniment.
*You may provide an original or certified copy of a recent criminal background check (less than 1 year old), since most projects involve dealing with minors.
*Provide an original or certified copy of required qualifications (medical degree or transcript). This is applicable to medical volunteers only.

What`s Included

The program fee is paid directly to our in-country team. Since the locals seeking volunteers’ assistance simply do not have the means to care for the volunteers, you are required to pay a program fee to cover:

Airport pickup and drop-off
Some donation into the project
Accommodation
3 meals daily
Stipends

Visitations and calls (checkups)
