Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Volunteers will assist with protecting a future for pandas. The Giant Panda is an endangered species, but a captivating and fascinating creature. Many of the remaining 1600 reside in Sichuan and you will help to preserve this amazing animals that delights by children and adults.

The survival of pandas is uncertain as we work against time to protect their legacy. Individuals and groups of volunteers will be placed at the Bifengxia Panda Base. Pandas, equipment, and staff were relocated from Wolong Panda Base. The Wolong Panda Base was decimated by the 2008 earthquake in the region. The moved pandas have since doubled their population.

As a volunteer, you are expected to prepare food to serve to the pandas including bamboo, carrots, panda bread, and apples. You will also assist with cleaning their enclosures and make sure that their environment is secure. Volunteers will also help with research on pandas and provide medical care for the animals. You will be able to photograph and watch the pandas, so prepare to fall in love.

Highlights

This program is open to volunteers on each odd numbered week of the year.

While you will be able to take as many photos as you wish of pandas, there is an extra charge for having a photo taken of you holding a baby panda. Pay this extra fee to the reserve.

Be dedicated and ask your trainer for any assistance that you might need following the schedule. Your trainer’s first concern is your safety, so listen to their directions. The Panda Conservation Base is not responsible for injuries. Also do not wander into the forest by yourself since you might get lost.
