Montserrat Ridge to Reef Expedition

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Join this diving expedition and you can improve or learn new skills. Give back to the community by helping to conserve some of the most bio-diverse locations on the globe. Become adept at identifying numerous species of fish, corals and marine invertebrates. Help to provide data and valuable information to assist with the continual management and monitoring of Montserrat. Join as a terrestrial volunteer and get the opportunity to survey plants, reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Learn about your place within the natural world and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Montserrat was once an affluent Caribbean island heavily dependent on tourism, until two volcanic eruptions destroyed the airport and capital. The government is in the midst of rebuilding and is working on development plans to bring back tourism. Our group was asked to survey the reefs and jungles to ensure that the management plans implemented will not harm any of the natural areas of the island. Join us as you collect valuable information to impact sustainable development.

Marine volunteers joining CCC for at least 3 weeks will get the opportunity to join in on surveying areas that have not been researched since before the first volcano eruption.

Terrestrial volunteers will get the opportunity to survey the beautiful Centre Hills and may even catch site of the extremely rare (critically endangered) Montserrat Oriole or Mountain Chicken.

No prior qualifications are needed, we just ask for an eagerness to learn.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, unless joining as part of a school group (where they can be 16 years of age)
Volunteers must be able to pass a CCC medical
