Program Description

We are looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of projects on Naifaru Island, located in the Maldives. Volunteers will assist with conservation efforts, promoting social growths and facilitating cultural exchange.

We have five different types of programmes available:

- Sports Volunteering Programme
- Teaching Volunteering Programme
- Marine Conservation Volunteering Programme
- Community Development Volunteering Programme
- Medical Volunteering Programme

Sports Volunteering Programme includes:

- Working with the local community
- Helping both children and adults improve their fitness, community engagement and self-esteem
- General Sports instructors are welcome who can coach a variety of sports as well as Volleyball teachers, Football coaches, Group Fitness/Zumba teachers, Athletics teachers and Swimming coaches

Community Development Volunteering Programme:

- Contributing to the growth and improvement of the regional environment
- Working with local communities to create exciting events and projects
- Helping underprivileged youth and assisting helpful NGOs in raising essential funding
- We require volunteers for Botany and Gardening, Youth Counselling, Community Organising, Eco-Waste Managing

Marine Conservation Programme:

- Helping to conserve and protect endangered sea turtle populations while repairing local coral reefs
- Be a Sea Turtle volunteer and assist projects that preserve these gorgeous creatures

Teaching Volunteering Programme:

- Aid local communities in learning new skills and improving job prospects by sharing your skills and abilities
- Volunteers are needed for the following teaching positions: Art, Music, Computer, Teaching Assistants and Pre-school instructors

Medical Volunteering Programme (Unavailable until 2015):

- Working in a local hospital with experienced staff and helping to treat patients and contribute to healthcare initiatives on the island
- Improving and developing your own healthcare foundation and experience
- This volunteer opportunity is ideal for those looking to pursue a career in medicine or healthcare
- Volunteers are needed for: Medical Placements, Midwife Positions and Nursing Placements

Qualifications

Volunteers should be aged 18+, physically fit, speak English, and have a strong motivation to volunteer and experience a new culture.
Due to government restrictions in obtaining visas, all volunteers should either be currently studying for or have completed a University Degree or equivalent qualification.
Volunteers should be self motivated, adaptable and flexible and willing to live and work in a tropical environment.
Tetanus, Diptheria and Hepatitis A & B vaccinations are recommended.
Volunteers who are working with children or on medical projects will be required to send us a police background check or similar document.

Volunteer Types

What`s Included

The above costs include all accommodation and food (3 meals per day provided by a local restaurant), airport pickup and drop off and transfers to and from Malé to Naifaru, weekly excursions to nearby islands for picnics and snorkelling (1 per week each Saturday), access to a 24/7 support hotline, organisation of a visa on your behalf (you will need to provide colour scans of certain documents to us upon confirmation of your booking), placement and support from our partner organisation in the Maldives and WorkingAbroad Projects.

A 2 week placement is £670 for all teaching and community development projects, £770 for all sports coaching projects, and £870 for all marine and medical projects.
