Living with Lions, South Africa
Program Description
Experience South Africa's most famous predators in this exciting programme in the gorgeous North West Province of South Africa.
Stay at a famous lion sanctuary, located within the World Heritage Site of the “Cradle of Humankind”, where the ITV drama "Wild at Heart" was filmed. You will be close to fascinating animals like elephants, spotted hyenas and hippos and incredible sub-tropical woodland. This programme is a fantastic opportunity to experience South Africa’s big cats, meet interesting people from all over the world and make wonderful memories that you will definitely treasure forever.
All tasks will be supervised by professional game rangers, who also instruct all volunteers during their interactions with lions, cheetah, leopards and tigers. There are various activities such as feeding the animals, taking care of the young and sick animals, and experiencing the general day-to-day tasks of running an animal sanctuary.
Every Thursday you will be able to take a well deserved break from the volunteer work and go on an exciting excursion. The excursions can range from experiencing exciting views on a Hartbeespoort mountain cable car ride, to celebrations of South African cultural traditions at the Lesedi Cultural Village.
