Help Burmese Migrants and Refugee Communities

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

What?

We are looking for volunteers who are interesting in helping migrant communities and schools. Those who are qualified may also be asked to assist with healthcare.

There are many ethnic minority groups (Karen, etc.,) along with the Burmese who are migrants and refugees. These individuals live in harsh conditions after escaping from worse. With little to no opportunities for education, these Burmese migrants also suffer from serious health issues.

You will be placed in Mae Sot, a region close to the Burmese border. This town features a Friendship Bridge, which links it to Myawaddi, a town in Myanmar. There are a mix of ethnic groups in this region including Thai, Karen, Burmese, and Chinese, among others. We welcome volunteers throughout the year and also feature a training session in Thailand each month.

If you are enthusiastic and looking to make a difference, we welcome you! This will be a simple lifestyle but an amazing experience.

Our current volunteer responsibilities include:

Teaching English and really emphasizing conversation and continuous practice
Training in computer skills
Training in both computer and English skills
Caring for children
Assisting in healthcare
Helping out on other projects and in the community

Volunteers will be placed in the Mae Sot Region and mountains to assist in communities, migrant learning centers, and local schools.

One of our programs is to bring young migrants to the Training Center in Thailand so that they can train alongside our international volunteers in order to assist friends who could not travel to Thailand.
