Program Description

The program consists of the district medical officer of health and the environmental health unit. They advice on the construction and rehabilitation of clinics and health center and to:
a. Assist in the operation of and maintenance of all health facilities under the jurisdiction of the regional and district co-odinaing council
b. Assist o undertake health education and family immunization and nutrition programs
c. Co-ordinate works of health centers on community bases health workers
d. Promote and encourage good health and sanitation
e. Facilitate disease control and prevision
f. Assist to formulate, plan and implement district health policies with in the frame work of national health policies and guidelines provided by the ministry of health
g. Provide report on the implementation of policies and programs elating to health in the district
h. Advise on the appointment, discipline, posting and transfer of health personnel in the district
i. Assist to provide, maintain, supervise and control slaughter houses
j. Advise on the prevention of the spreading and extermination of tsetse fly, mosquitoes, rates, bugs, and other vermin in the district.

Highlights

As part of our agenda to provide accessible health care to the ordinary citizens, we need professionals and non-professional medical volunteers (medical students) to reach out to individuals, generously offering their time, knowledge and skills to heal lives.
The district need volunteer students on international missions to help educate children and families about good preventive health care, play therapy for hospitalized children, and administrative supportive role for medical teams. Most importantly, when volunteers help others in need, they learn how they can make an impact on the world and become true global citizens
