Program Description
The Firestation is located in Otavalo, in the province of Imbaburra. This public constitution aims to help the local population in cases of nature catastrophes, careless and improvident fire raisings or other accidents. The avoidance and the deletion of fires, by using various fire extinguishers, fire ladders and other specialized tools are the main activities of the firemen and are meant to be improved constantly. The highest objective is to establish a secure and confidential public service for disasters and critical situation within Ecuador.
In this project you will have the possibility to get close to the life of a fireman, get to know the most important issues in this scope and help to save lives. Your main tasks will concentrate on fighting against fires and to safe lives of people in dangerous situations. Those rescues will be done by fire engines, helicopters and dives within different areas like jungles, valleys and mountains.

Qualifications
Basic knowledge of firemen activities are required. A basic knowledge of Spanish is advantageous but not required.minimum 18 years of age
Minimum 1 week commitment to your project
A volunteer visa if you plan to stay for longer than 3 months
interest and passion for local culture
A monthly fee for food and accommodation and an application payment, which varies depending on the organization you volunteer with.
international health insurance, including liability and accident insurance
A completed Experience Report of at least 500 words upon completion of your volunteering project in Ecuador and and the right to publish it online.
