Program Description

Elderly centers are a refuge for numerous elderly people who are without any other place to go. They are free to watch television and listen to the radio while also being able to practice their religion. There are some who are without families and others who are immobile. Some of the elderly folk are having issues with mental and physical health and so we are looking for patient volunteers to assist with this disadvantaged group. Our volunteers who will not only care for our patients physically, but must also strive to increase the happiness of each of our patients. They are in need of care and affection and you will make a difference in their lives if you volunteer with this group. The center is situated in Piliyandala in the Kesbewa Divisional Secretariat area which is around 15 km away from Colombo. We are managed by a Board of Directors.

Qualifications

While you do not need to have any qualifications in working with the elderly, prior experience is appreciated.
Fluent or passable English would be useful while you volunteer in these centers.
A willingness to tend to the needs of the elderly is a must.
Volunteers should be financially independent.
Volunteers should be self-motivated.
