ECO-EFFECTIVE ARCHITECTURE: PROTOTYPING FOR DEVELOPMENT

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Based on eco-effective architecture the goal of the workshop is to develop an engineered solution which is the most effective in its context, has a positive incidence in both the environment and the community and whom technology can be replicated locally.
In order to achieve the best results the workshop has been divided in three main stages. LEARNING: where the prototype team will enjoy a deep engagement with the community through respectful observation and cooperative processes to be able to carry out an accurate on-site analysis of the local needs, initiatives, traditions, landscapes, resources and climatology followed by theory lessons about eco-effective architecture. DESIGN: Although the design is based on a collaborative approach where the decisions are taken by the team, there are some strategies that are predefined by the workshop motto for the architectural prototype process like: Clean water air, soil and power, up-cycling of materials ["cycle of life" thinking], zero waste, local empowering, bioclimatic design and low cost. The last stage is BUILD. This is a hands-on full-on site-specific workshop experience and It promises high-impact learning practice gaining experience for personal development for both local and international participants. Some evenings will be used for reviewing construction progress along with informal discussions and presentations by the workshop leader, local community and international participants. There is an additional stage that

Highlights

If our houses were designed to be easily built with local raw materials or up-cycled technological materials, if they were designed to not only provide a healthy shelter but to supply more energy and clean water than what it needs, to grow their own food, to definitively have a positive impact, the triple line of growth [social-environmental-economical] will be ensured and a true development would be happening.Would you now, gaining insight, choose to stand watching how the inertia of the non-effective architecture continues to destroy environments and societies that each day struggle more to just get enough to pay for the daily survival basics or would you begin taking steps to change it.
