Disabled Children - Vietnam - Volunteer Abroad

Program Description

You will be based in Ho Chi Minh at our partner hospital. As a volunteer, you will care for children have both physical and mental disabilities.

There are around 12 children who reside in this home and come from families who are unable to pay for the care that their children need.

ITINERARY

Sunday

Our staff will pick you up from the airport. You will go to our project headquarters to be introduced to the children’s home staff and to rest before the program begins.

Monday

Monday morning begins with a longer and more thorough introduction where you will also learn about your role in this project. Meet the children and find out what the manager need from you in this project. You might be assisting in caring for these children.

Tuesday to Friday

You duties will begin and are determined by the needs of the children’s home. You may play games to entertain the children or help with their posture and speech. If you have had previous experience with social care, we welcome your creative input.

Weekends

Weekends are for your own time where you can travel or, if you choose, you may continue to assist at the children’s home.

Highlights

As a volunteer with this program, you will be expected to care for the children. You may interact with them, comfort them, and play games. If you have prior experience in this field, it would be a great advantage but is not necessary.

One of the most important areas for raising the quality of life for these children is helping them with muscular capacity and speech. You will be assisting with daily regimes to help them.

We encourage artistic expression including art and painting. We welcome volunteers to bring materials that would assist with these endeavors.

The children really enjoy singing, dancing, and playing games.
