Program participants will learn everything in this culture week about the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh.
Our coordinator will be on hand to welcome you at the Ho Chi Minh airport on Sunday. From there you will meet the other program participants as you go to your accommodation.
Monday brings visits and tours around the city to view important sights. You will be able to see City Hall, the Opera House, the Reunification Palace, and Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica. Following lunch, you will be able to create your own jewelry at an embroidery workshop as you experiment with traditional Vietnamese techniques. Pho Hung Market is the next stop and it is the sight of tasty food and fun clothing.
Tuesday is for engaging classes including culture and language. An English speaking Vietnamese instructor will educate you about the vibrant country of Vietnam in the morning. You will be able to experience a Vietnamese water puppet show in the afternoon.
Wednesday is for Vietnamese cooking as you learn local secrets. After lunch you will have the opportunity to tour the War Remnant Museum which will educate you about crucial history. A visit to the swimming pool will round out the day.
On Thursday, you will be able to see the Cu Chi Tunnels that became famous in the war in the 1970s.
Friday will give you the chance to give back to the community as you work with street children in an orphanage, visit a children’s home for the disabled, and help out with a local hospital. Volunteers are welcome to make donations.
The week culminates in a farewell party with Karaoke.
