Program Description
The Forest reserve was founded with the aim to protect the biodiversity of one of the most important conservation areas in northwestern Ecuador. This goal is achieved through various ways, such as scientific research, environmental education, community development and the sustainable management of natural resources. They have succeeded implementing a biological research station in the reserve which provides the necessary information to mitigate some environmental and social problems.
There are different tasks and areas in which the volunteers can participate on different days of the week:
Constant and consistent bird monitoring: Counting, searching for nests, evaluation of habitats, etc.
Botanical studies: Collect specimens for the herbarium, dry, identify and montage them
Environmental education and community development: Give classes in local schools and plan campaigns against the trafficking of wildlife
Reforestation: Collecting, sowing and taking care of seeds, nursery of trees and reforesting adversely affected areas

Qualifications
Interest in nature and conservation.minimum 18 years of age
Minimum 1 week commitment to your project
A volunteer visa if you plan to stay for longer than 3 months
interest and passion for local culture
A monthly fee for food and accommodation and an application payment, which varies depending on the organization you volunteer with.
international health insurance, including liability and accident insurance
A completed Experience Report of at least 500 words upon completion of your volunteering project in Ecuador and and the right to publish it online.
