Program Description

Begin your programme in the Inca city of Cusco where you'll receive an induction and orientation before travelling through the High Andes to the Acjance Park Guard Station and the Cloud Forest. Then you descend into the Amazon via motorised canoe down the Madre de Dios River.

You will be involved in noteworthy Community Development work with the local indigenous families and communities.

You will work in a fantastic conservation and community development program on this excellent multi-activity project! The longer you participate on the project, the more skills you'll develop. You will benefit from professional training and actively assist in environmental monitoring at multiple locations.

Training on the Job:
We aim to train productive volunteers who know how to do the work, what the work is, and why it is necessary. Volunteers will receive training in the following fields:

• Environmental education
• Ethno-botany
• Reforestation & agro-forestry
• Flora & fauna monitoring
• Wilderness ethics & natural resources conservation
• Cultural diversity
• Astronomy
• Natural history
• Conservation & sustainability
• Tropical ecology
• First Aid & basic rainforest survival skills

Responsibilities:
There are many different parts of projects and the degree to which you'll run or assist on such projects will depend upon your abilities.

The training will maximise your experience and introduce you to the various projects that are running at the Centre. On your arrival in the Rainforest you'll start a week-long training schedule which introduces you to the rainforest and the program.

Qualifications

No qualifications needed, just an interest in nature and conservation. Minimum age 17.
