Coach Sports to Township Children in South Africa with Budget Volunteering

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Here is a great opportunity to volunteer to teach sports at local schools that can not afford these types of programs. The sports that are offered are Cricket, Football, Netball and Rugby. There can be up to 15-40 students per class. These classes are in connection with our Life Orientation program.

The reason we offer Life Orientation classes is to promote developing skills, knowledge, life values and help students to make knowledgable decisions regarding appropriate actions. They also help with health promotion, social, personal and physical developments.

The sports program will empower the children with the skills to work within a team, build confidence and self esteem, learn communication skills and leadership skills. The schools timetable will determine how much of your time will be spent on coaching. Some of your day will be spent teaching other classes as well.
So bring your A game and coaching skills to Kynsna. Use your passion and enthusiasm for coaching sports activities when and where you can at our local schools. The children will love it!

Highlights

VOLUNTEER HOUSING:

The housing for volunteering is both functional and fabulous. It has views of the Knysna lagoon and the sunsets are beautiful. The hosuing sits on the natural green belt so expect to be visited by troops of monkeys and colorful birds. It is walking distance to town yet peaceful. It is a great place to relax after a days works. Please see photo.

Housing includes a kitchen, a braai (barbecue) for outdoor entertainment, dining area, a couple of en-suite bathrooms, television with a DVD player and free Wi-Fi. Enjoy the spectacular environment in the garden or the several verandas offered.

FOOD:

All volunteers are given a food budget to cover the essentials. It does not cover extras like alcohol, snacks or eating out. It is a great chance to sample some of the local South African cuisine, fruits and vegetables. You can shop at the local shops and markets.

Knysna is famous for its oysters. There is an Oyster Festival in July if they are the type of cuisine you like. If you would enjoy a meal out, then the waterfront marina is a great place to check out. It offers restaurants and cafes that have breakfast, coffee, cakes, snacks and excellent meals from a variety of nations.
