CIVS Community Service

Program Description

CIVS Kenya is a community development agency operating especially in the marginalized and poverty-stricken rural areas of Kenya. We have two program areas: International Voluntary Service (IVS) and Community Development.

The INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTARY SERVICE is designed for people who want the chance to make a real difference in the fight against poverty.

The volunteer's duties will include:
- Assisting with the orientation of new volunteers
- Updating the website of CIVS and other information/communication materials
- Publicity, publications and marketing tasks
- Undertake online research and build contacts with potential partners/donors for the organization's activities
- Visit projects and conduct appraisal
- Production of annual calendar of events for CIVS
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the projects (this involves field visits)

Highlights

The project will provide the volunteer with diverse experience and exposure to various elements of daily routines of the activities carried out by small development agency.

Qualifications

We are seeking for a volunteer who is knowledgable in writing proposals for funding in order to support some of our projects. The volunteer will work at CIVS office. Additionally, volunteers are expected to be able to communicate in English. It is necessary that you should have high motivation and lots of initiative to implement the objectives of the project.

What`s Included

The volunteer will live in a host family near the project site. Breakfast and dinner will be provided by the host family.
CIVS can organize tours and safaris for the volunteers. The fee of 330 Euro charged for a 3 days safari to Masai Mara is all-inclusive of meals, transport, park entry fees, accommodation and tour guiding.
