Blue Ventures Marine Conservation Expedition in Belize

Overall rating: 0 based on 0 reviews

Program Description

Volunteer in helping with the survey efforts of the second largest barrier reef. Help to combat the incursion of the lionfish and preserve this beautiful ecosystem.

Volunteers come from across the globe and will be a part on our expeditionary dives. You will live in the Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve and the fishing village in Sarteneja and help with the community work and marine research.

We invite volunteers from retirees, career breakers, university graduates, and gap year students. We invite divers to help with our community work and marine research.

Volunteers will help monitor fish populations and reef health. Volunteers will collect data on expeditions and provide guidance to fisheries in the region.

There are year-round programs for our expeditions so that we can accommodate your schedule and availability. We invite you to join us and make a difference in the local marine research!

- Scuba dive in the stunning Caribbean Ocean. See turtles, rays, nurse sharks, dolphins and giant moray eels
- Work alongside international scientists for an award winning marine conservation organisation
- If your project falls between Jan-July there is a good chance you’ll observe a spawning aggregation. During these events, fish gather to spawn in their thousands. It attracts many marine species, including the majestic whale shark
- Get fantastic discounted rates on our Rescue and Dive Master courses
- Get involved in community work

Anyone can join an expedition providing they are in a reasonable state of fitness; we demand that volunteers are checked physically by a Doctor prior to departure, to ensure a good level of health and you will need to complete medical forms that your Doctor must sign. Volunteers must also be comfortable in the water and able to swim 400m confidently and tread water for 2 minutes unaided.
