Bear Tracking Volunteer Project, Sweden

Program Description
This is a short-term volunteer experience that will take individuals into the depths of the Swedish wilderness. Volunteers will assist with tracking wildlife, which is a fun alternative to a traditional holiday. This is a great choice for families, couples, retirees, solo travelers, nature enthusiasts, and wildlife photographers.
Volunteers will experience Golden Eagles nesting all around, pure, drinkable water from lakes, seeing other animals like beavers making dams, and other unique wilderness adventures. This is an escape from the hectic bustle of everyday life. You will be housed in a quaint cabin at the edge of the park and you will be able to spend your vacation looking out for more wildlife. Embrace the serenity!
We do not work with baits. Our goal is to observe bears in their environment and to respect their space. While there is a small possibility that you will not see a bear, with over 30 brown bears in the region, it would be surprising not to glimpse one in Sånfjället National Park during a hike. We will show you all the best areas to hide out and watch the valleys with binoculars or a camera.
During your time at Sånfjället National Park, you will have the opportunity to go fly fishing, canoeing, beaver tracking, and even take a course on wilderness survival.

Qualifications
People of all ages can join the project - this includes families, couples with children (ideally children over 10yrs old), individuals, groups and so on. Communication will be done in English, so you will need to speak at least a basic level of English - some German and Dutch is also spoken, as well as Swedish of course. No special skills are needed, however, an interest in wilderness, peace and quiet are necessary for bear viewing, as they have very developed hearing and smell and can hear us from a long way off. Anyone interested in one week's genuine nature experience would really fit in! In addition, you will need to be able to walk at least 5kms through rough terrain without any problems, be able to swim (if you go on a canoe trip), have good hiking (and/or rubber boots), have rain clothing and warm clothing (sitting still, waiting on September evenings in the fjäll (mountain) can be quite cold), have a day pack and also have your own binoculars/telescope (it is really worth bringing these!).Volunteer Types
