Program Description

Bahay at Yaman ni San Martin de Porres Tondo (BYSMP) is located in Tondo, Manila and is a halfway house. Tondo is a poverty-stricken area of the Philippines and is very crowded. The teams of Father boyet Concepcion and St. Martin de Porres have worked to develop initiative and outreach programs for neglected children or those who have faced abuse, poverty, and disability. This projects will both uplift the children and the community as a whole.

Children should have access to a safe environment and have plenty of support. This halfway house was developed to provide children with a safe space before being transferred to a shelter that provides livelihood programs, education, and stimulating activities. This is a holistic approach and there is even a medical clinic that provides medicine and checkups. These children can even be sponsored for education programs. Volunteers might need to assist with remedial teaching and with helping to educate the mothers and caregivers of these families through how to apply for loans, prepare food, learn English, and create economically viable goods like making soap.
