I came into this course knowing I had a lot to learn. I was very curious to see how it could all be delivered in a one month course. And a professional teacher would emerge.

The course is intensive but manageable. It's broken up into small pieces that are easy to learn. The language sections such as grammar and vocabulary are given in easy to understand pieces that will give you a refresher in correct English grammar.

During your observed teaching practice, you’re given an opportunity to apply your new theories and techniques by teaching six one hour classes to real students in a live classroom. One thing I discovered is that Thai students are delightful and a joy to work with.

Vantage was also super helpful in getting me settled in and settled in Bangkok by providing great information on accommodation, how to get to class, where to shop and to do routine but necessary chores The Vantage trainers are second to none. The faculty and staff have a wealth

This class is intensive but I was helped and guided each step of along the way.

Vantage’s lead trainer, Chris, was excellent and extremely effective. He always available for any help. He has over twenty years of classroom experience to draw on. He’s also an accomplished materials developer, so the training discussions typically illuminate and go beyond the standard course book.

This course taught me a lot about theory and, but it’s the observed teaching practices—where theory meets the reality of the classroom—that’s the heart and soul of the course. It was here that I really learned to teach. After each observed teaching practice, I was given extensive feedback from the trainers that really helped me realize where I was strong and challenged me in other areas which still needed more development.

They also have a separate “Jobs Coach” trainer who helped me create my own Power Resume. We actually sat down and did that one-on-one after the course concluded. We also developed Cover Letters and other job support materials.

I would also highly recommend taking this course to anyone who is serious about a career teaching English. You will leave with the requisite teaching skills—a strong foundation that will make you ready to successfully teach English in any classroom.

After I finished medical school, I found during my hospital residency that what I loved best was educating my patients in healthy life options and medical treatments. That discovery led me to thinking about teaching as a career option.

A lot of my education had been based in sciences and not the arts which is where I would have previously put anything to do with languages. It was during my observed practice teaching sessions—teaching in a live classroom—that I put into practice all my newly learned techniques out on non-English speaking students. This is where art met science.

Vantage’s trainers gave me invaluable feedback after each of my practice sessions. This is where art met science. The trainers are eager to help you succeed. They are quite knowledgeable about the classroom. They also make learning fun.

They have a specialized Jobs Coach who will both plug you into their network of Thai and even Chinese schools. First, they will develop your Power Resume and job documentation materials. This was particularly helpful for me as my objective is to teach science in English in Asia.

I’m now ready to teach anywhere anytime. I would highly recommend Vantage if you wish to become a professional teacher.

With some twelve years training experience in the medical services field where I delivered customized training for doctors in clinical applications, I was really questioning what I could learn from any TEFL program.

The bottom line was that I learned how to teach a language. I’m very comfortable presenting product knowledge and how to work a room, I soon realized there are some key differences in getting someone to successfully acquire a second language.

I learned how to develop a guided lesson plan—which I got excellent feedback on—then I had to deliver it in front of a live classroom of non-English speaking students.

After each observed teaching session, I got valuable coaching from the Vantage trainers. They would also present me a new challenge to challenge me in my next teaching practice. The goal was to consistently deliver successful teaching performances. We were being coached for overall growth and progress in each teaching session as the practicum went on. More than anything else—putting theory into a real teaching context—made me into the language teacher that I have become.

Vantage is a highly professional program and just the ticket for those starting a career as a language teacher.

I spent a lot of time researching on TEFL courses before I made the decision that an In-Class course would be far more beneficial, as there is a practical teaching component to the course.

The program I chose also needed to have to have to have a minimum of six hours of actual teaching practice. Finally, the trainers not only had to meet but exceed stringent academic requirements for teaching TEFL. Having Cambridge University accreditation and backed by Fort Hays State University, met that Vantage certainly met all my tough criteria.

Was I prepared for the challenge Vantage would put me through? Yes, but this course pushed me beyond my comfort zone on occasion. The lead trainer was always there to encourage and help us. As a trainer, you would be hard to find someone any better. He has over two decades years of experience, strong industry knowledge and he always goes the extra mile with every aspect of the training. He will do everything in his power to ensure that you are prepared and confident teaching English.

Teaching a language is much more about getting the students to speak—and motivating them to do the work. I now feel 100% confident I can enter any classroom and successfully teach English!

I was nervous about doing a TEFL course as I’m a non-native speaker and I was worried about participating with in a course with native English speakers. And as a Thai, I was the same nationality as my students.

The great news was that Vantage has small class sizes so we all got a very personal level of attention. Their lead trainer and he has a wide-ranging experience in teaching English and in creating teaching materials. He really went out of his way to see how I was developing into a professional teacher. And while this course was intensive, it was always engaging, interesting and even fun.

Vantage also made me realize that, as a non-native speaker, I had advantages. They told me that the process of learning a second language—something native English speakers rarely do—was very helpful in motivating students in second language acquisition.

I actually found I become a role model for my Thai students. Many times after class and they came up and told me that they didn’t really believe they could ever speak English like their American teachers. The fact that I’ve mastered the language give them encouragement to keep trying.

Vantage’s TEFL program was truly world-class. I was developed into a teacher each step of the way during my practice sessions. I got very useful feedback after each class and I was challenged to incorporate something new into my next teaching session. As I grew more confident after each practice session, I became more competent in the classroom. I couldn’t have done this without these guys!

I hold a degree in child development and about 10 years teaching experience—mostly in the USA. So I was pretty skeptical that this course would have much use for me.

Given my pessimistic view I was surprised at how challenging Vantage’s course would be. For starters, the instructor was world-class. He was well-versed in what he was teaching and his insight and ideas that were a great guide to developing better techniques for good teaching. He was always available for questions or help.

Our observed teacher practices at the college were really what made this program shine. The instructor was there to observe, offering excellent feedback. He was great at giving valuable contributions, using constructive criticisms in a way so as to inspire and not offend. He also always left us with a challenge for our net teaching practice.

The course also did a great job teaching us how to craft lesson plans that make a successful class. We would run these by the trainers before class and got valuable feedback (before we stepped into the classroom).

After I completed the course, the Jobs Coach worked with me one-on-one developing what they call a Power Resume that was targeted to the educational market segment I was focusing on. I was quite impressed by this resume and his advice on how to make resumes that will get your foot-in-the-door.

Overall, I would highly recommend this TESOL certification school. You will certainly get your money’s worth. Vantage receives my top marks.

As a native Russian speaker, I was worried about completing this class. First off, I was anxious my English was not good enough—particularly being in a course that was full of native English speakers.

So I spent a lot of time researching on teachers’ training course programs trying to find the best fit for me. Vantage had one of the more serious websites and that was a key attraction. They had a number of videos from past students who were also non-native speakers, and they talked about the advantages they had. That was a real eye-opener for me.
And I also got immediate replies to all my questions—and there were many. I figured that if that had this much time for me before I enrolled, they’d really take care of me as a student. I was completely right.

Having said that, I didn’t expect the course to be as intensive as it was. You’ll learn a lot of very important teaching techniques and methodologies like planning lessons, managing classes, eliciting target language and teaching aids. Vantage’s trainers guided me at every stage. Almost every day I really saw myself growing as a teacher.

In my previous position, I was a teacher of both English and Mandarin. The teaching techniques I learned here—although taught within an English context—will be great when I teach Chinese as well. I actually was not the first English/Chinese teacher. They showed me how the techniques I was learned could be applied to teaching any language.

Vantage TEFL Thailand was a fantastic course. I become 100% confident and I’m ready for any classroom…and any language.

Hands down, these guys taught me how to teach.

I had a lot of doubts about how I could cope with huge Asian population as I grew up in small and cozy New Zealand. I had never been overseas before I was worried the culture shock would be too much. And doing this, while doing a full-time TEFL course, seemed all too much.
Vantage immediately put me to rest. The course director was super helpful in the weeks leading up to my studies. I was provided with super useful information regarding visas, accommodation, transport—everything I needed to know to get settled in Thailand and complete the course.

On the first day, I bonded with our peers, met the Vantage training team, and the dove straight into teaching theory. I was the youngest in the class, but we were all treated the same as we were all in the same situation—training to be professional English teachers—and finding out what that really entailed.
The course wasn’t easy—a lot of work needed to be done but Vantage provided support each step of the way and for the tasks to be completed to the highest standard. Due to Vantage’s relatively small class sizes, it was very personal and any queries were answered instantly. The trainers had a lot of time for each of us.

I truly loved teaching at the college—where we did our teaching practice sessions. It was a fantastic experience. Observations from the trainers—as well as our peers—helped us improve immeasurably after each practice lesson. This part of the course the most important part in my development as a professional teacher. I couldn’t imagine doing an online-only TEFL and missing the practicum.

Vantage encouraged me to reach my full potential. They really built my confidence. They went miles out of their way to give their students the very best preparation to teach English and become great teachers. I feel ready to step into any classroom anywhere.

There are too many TEFL courses in Thailand to choose from. I read many reviews. Far too many outlined how I could have a Thai holiday while studying to be a teacher.

I didn’t have much confidence if they weren’t really talking about the inner workings of the TEFL course itself. My bottom line was that I wanted to become a professional teacher. I’m pretty sure the beaches would still be there after I completed my training.

After my initial internet phase, I decided to actually visit a short list schools to see them running their TEFL in action. That really help separate the wheat from the chaff. Secondly, the program I choose had to be internationally recognized and accredited by a reputable educational Institution. I learned early that Thailand’s Ministry of Education doesn’t accredit or license any specific TELF program so programs that said only this lost ranking points. Secondly, they had to have at least 6 hours of actual observed teaching practice. Thirdly, the trainers had to meet, but exceed stringent academic requirements for teaching ESL. You’d be surprised how many provider websites don’t even tell you who—and how qualified—their trainers are.

Finally, we found a TEFL course that met all of the above requirements—Vantage.

Our class size was relatively small so we received a very high level of personalized. The Lead Trainer has an extensive background in teaching English and in developing course curriculums and their teaching materials. He really went out of his way to see how was developing into a professional teacher. I was complement on where I had done well. And given a ‘challenge’ to areas I was still weak. The approach led me to becoming better in every observed teaching practice I did. Importantly—as this course is intensive—he has a great sense of humor which makes the class engaging, interesting, and most of all—fun.

The other trainers were just as skilled and proficient. We learned how to format a "power resume" from Vantage’s Jobs Coach and how to make a resume stand out in a 10 second scan.

We also “sat on the other side of the desk” as we had a Foreign Language Trainer that focused on some basic conversation of the Thai as well as some of the important cultural norms.

Besides receiving a detailed education on lesson plans, grammar review, and classroom management, I felt that Vantage has provided us the necessary tools and a solid foundation to begin teaching. We got a world class teacher training program with an American accreditation at Vantage. I certainly feel that I made the right choice.

Lots and lots of TEFL Programs

    Review by: R. C. Anflick , On: 26 Oct 2017, Changed On: 26 Oct 2017 | Yes, I would recommend this program

I already had a very good and secure job as I worked for a diversified corporate financial services and insurance company for over ten years. The problem was that I really knew I wanted to teach. But I was more than reluctant to leave a secure life and move to Thailand to complete my TEFL course and start over again as a teacher.

So I emailed Kevin, the course director, with all my concerns regarding their institute and what they had to offer. He was very professional and explained that the course will be very intensive, but rewarding at the end. This was the place teachers were born, he assured me.
My first day on the course I was quite relieved. Vantage has an excellent Lead Trainer and it was also great that I had the best fellow trainees that I could have ever asked for. We immediately came together as one solid group—learning from and about each other. The course was very well structured with teaching theories, methodologies, and teaching approaches

Then we actually had to teach in front of real students. I had no teaching experience and I was not confident at all to stand in front of a live class. My first teaching lesson was OK, but because I was very nervous, not a good as I could have been. The feedback I got from Vantage really helped me in the second—and the rest of the observed classes I taught. I’m now very confident. I can now design a lesson plan, worksheets, flashcards, games and power-point presentation. Vantage’s course also covered how technology is becoming a big part of our teaching and I’m now able to use stuff like an LMS (a Learning Management System).

I got a lot of one-on-one job help—like building my resume and cover letters—after my course was completed. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with amazing people and build lifelong relationships from this programme. These professional-class trainers launched my teaching career and developed me to be a professional English teacher

I researched a lot of other TEFL courses before choosing Vantage. Most were telling me about riding an elephant or playing volleyball on a beach and not that focused on telling me how I could learn to teach properly. Vantage was different. Their website is loaded with information on the course, the demand for English teacher and even possible career paths I could take.

I was not disappointed. Vantage is an intensive course that pushes you out of your comfort zone and brings out the very best of you.
Before the course, I had a long list of personal concerns that I seriously thought would hold me back—some of which I thought might be insurmountable. I thought I was too young, I thought I wasn't boisterous enough, wasn't qualified enough and much more. Yet Vantage successfully dealt with every one of my ‘issues’ in ways that I would have never thought of.

Vantage class sizes are small so I got a ton of personal attention. What really surprised me was how determined the trainers were to go above and beyond—putting everything into the delivery of the course. These guys are motivated far more by their desire to do the best job they can rather than the financial compensation they receive for doing so.

I would recommend Vantage to anyone who really to become a professional teacher. These trainers are your ticket to entry in the profession.

I was already teaching kindergarten in Myanmar when I did my TEFL, so I already had a lot of experience teaching kids in an English speaking environment in a real classroom.

And while I was trained in education at university and had experience in the classroom, I felt I could become an even more effective teacher if I had some background in teaching languages.

That proved to be correct. I gained a lot from Vantage’s TEFL course as I have learned about the methodologies and techniques in teaching English a second language.

Vantage’s TEFL program was comprehensive. It delivered everything it said it would and it offered much more. They are also an authorized Cambridge English exam center, so we also studied about how to assess a student’s English proficiency level and the testing methods with which to do this. They gave us a lot of tools that were invaluable in understanding how different students come to grips with their second language acquisition. I’ve since discovered this isn’t covered much at all in other TEFL courses.

This course is intensive. It’s not for those who want something ‘easy’ to gain a teaching credential. You’ll be more than busy for the four weeks, but at the same time, even for an experienced teacher like me. I felt like I learned a tremendous amount.

Our observed practices were great. The feedback we got from the trainers was always focused on how we could be better in our next observed teaching session. They had a way of presenting weakness as challenges and I could see how both I and the other trainees got a lot better as the practicum went on.

In addition to job interview techniques and their extensive network of schools, I also got a personal individual session on building what Vantage call a “Power Resume.” They have a page on their website that explains what that is.

Everyone at Vantage was super helpful and they really put the student’s interest first. I would highly recommend Vantage to anyone who wants to become a professional teacher

I decided to do TEFL training because all I really wanted was to teach English. And to do it well. But at the same time, I was scared to do this by myself as I really did know how to go about it and what to do once I got in front of a real classroom.

Vantage TEFL program was great in that they taught me the various learning methodologies and teaching techniques

I did have to relearn a lot of grammar, but they made that more interesting than I thought it would be. And I was taught and tested on phonetics. I still a bit surprised I got through that part.

My observed practice teaching sessions are where I really polished my teaching skills. I was encouraged to use skills and training techniques I used in previous jobs—adapted for second language teaching.
I got a ton of great feedback from the trainers—and my co-trainees--that made a huge difference in my performance in the next class.

Throughout the entire course, I was taken out of my comfort zone, but the bottom line is I now can successfully teach. I’m now 100% confident that I can walk into a classroom anywhere and teach anyone English.

Even after the course was finished, Vantage gave me a lot of personal help. After the course, I came back and got additional face-to-face consultation in developing what Vantage call their Power Resume. The school that hired me said that my resume was the best they’ve seen and the reason they invited me in to interview.

Vantage wants you to become a teacher who can make a difference in your students’ lives. If you’re interested in a long term teaching career overseas, check out Vantage’s TEFL program.

I first tried teaching English to a class of a group of young students through a volunteer program in Cambodia. I had—and was not given—any formal training. I just was left to my own to ‘try and succeed in the classroom. I did discover I loved to teach—and make a significant difference in student’s lives.

I also knew that if I wanted to become a professional teacher and really good at what I was teaching that I would need formal training to do it to the best of my abilities.

Vantage’s TEFL course was taught by an outstanding and highly experienced teacher who cares a tremendously about his students. The month course is intensive between the lesson planning, observed teaching practice and portfolio you need to build. You will be guided step-by-step and have fun throughout the process. I was given a lot of very positive feedback after each of my observed teaching practices. As a result, I improve significantly every time I taught.

They have a separate “Jobs Coach. I had sent my old resume out to several companies before the course with absolutely no luck. After sending out my new Vantage-style “Power Resume,” I was contacted by every single school I contacted.

The bottom line is that if you are serious about a professional career as an English teacher, do your TEFL with Vantage.

Every day I learned something I didn’t know about teaching. This was an intensive course, but it was engaging and fun. The time just flew by. Importantly, I was guided every step of the way.

I really learned a lot during my observed teaching practice. We had to do a minimum of six; I did eight as I wanted additional practice and my lead trainer wanted me to try some new techniques. He gave me extensive feedback after each session and my co-trainees, who had to observed and comment on my teaching, told me that I got better and better as the course progress. My trainer also gave me a new challenge for an upcoming teacher session. These were usually areas the trainers thought I still needed to work on. The training team was excellent and always available for any help.

They have a separate “Jobs Coach” trainer who show me how to create my own Power Resume. I was too busy making lesson plans during the course so we actually sat down and did that after the course finished. I also got coached on interviewing skills and got connected into Vantage’s network of teaching opportunities. I’m also looking at their new partnership with a major online teacher recruiter.

I highly recommend taking Vantage to anyone who wants to pursue a career teaching English. You will leave with the requisite teaching skills and the confidence to teach English anywhere to anyone.

I was very shy to get up in front of a class and present a speech. I soon discovered that what I had to do was deliver a class and that good teachers don’t’ just lecture. With each teaching practice, I learned that if I put my focus on my students, then I didn’t need to be an extrovert.

So my problem was one of confidence.

For me, the teaching practices at the college were great and the feedback given by trainer Chris after every lesson was really valuable. I couldn’t wait for my next teaching session. I think I more of an extrovert now…at least in front of my classes!

Vantage’s TEFL class is intense and a bit exhausting but it was always interesting and engaging. Most importantly, the end results were rewarding. Thank you Vantage for your, guidance, feedback and most of all patience and help throughout the course.

I wanted global recognition for my teaching certification, and the American University accreditation of Vantage was the most important consideration in selecting this program for my TEFL training.

Vantage’s TELF course was great. The course itself was pretty intensive as we had an entire course book and lots of supplementary materials to get through in just four weeks!

For me, however, the live teaching that we did with university students was the heart of the training. Yes, the book’s theories and methodologies were important, but it’s when you stand in front of real live students and start practicing your own teaching techniques that you develop your own professional style.

After each observed teaching session, I got really useful feedback from the course trainers. They would also present us a challenge to tackle for the next upcoming teaching session. They wanted to see more than just a single good teacher performance; they were looking for overall growth in each and every individual session as the practicum went on.

I also had to observe my fellow co-trainees teach. I took detailed notes on their classes and discussed these with both them and our lead trainer. I learned a lot from doing this as well.

Doing my TEFL training in Thailand was a great experience. The students are incredibly polite and well behaved. Thai food is fantastic and this program is world-class.

After completing this course, I am now 100% confident that I could enter any classroom and successfully teach English.

We covered a lot of teaching theory every class and I was constantly challenged. But the Vantage trainers always kept each session interesting, engaging and fun.

However, what gave me my confidence really came from actual teaching. As a first step, we did peer teaching where we both taught and had to give feedback to our co-trainees on their performance as well.

Then we went into live classrooms with real Thai students. There is no substitute for this and I’m really glad I didn’t do an “online only” as I was initially considering. Our trainers gave us a lot of detailed feedback after each class we taught. They also gave us a new ‘challenge’ to incorporate into our next teaching practice. The bottom line was that I got a little better each time I taught.

This is a superb program and attending it was one of the best decisions I’ve every made!

I am a Training Team Manager for a company in India and I found the course absolutely fantastic and truly worthwhile.

The course gives you an opportunity to relearn and exercise the English language like the way it has never been done before. This is truly for someone who loves the language and would like to impart the knowledge gained in an effective manner and in any part of the world. I'm extremely proud to say that I was trained by the best.

Chris, who has more than 20 years of experience in teaching is absolutely one of a kind. His immense knowledge, understanding, patience and exceptional method of training is what makes the course so invaluable and wonderful.

Kevin is the best job coach that you could ever find (has a world of language and travel knowledge up his sleeve) and Ryan, is a superb language trainer (I still can't believe how I can now speak basic Thai).

These are not just world-class trainers but mentors for life.

I've had an amazing experience with Vantage TEFL and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who has a passion to learn the language thoroughly, excel in their methods and travel to impart your language skill.

Advantages of being multi-lingualThe Vantage TEFL program was a huge benefit to me…helping from beginning to end.

The course is demanding and covers all aspects of English teaching from grammar to phonetics to student assessment. I have learned a lot about the methodologies and techniques in teaching a second language.

As good as the class was, I found the Observed Teaching Practice was the most demanding part as I was teaching real Thai students in a real school. We had to create successful lesson plans that worked within the framework of the school’s schedule and what the students required.
The feedback I got from the lead trainer from each session contributed a lot to my development as a teacher. I was making a career change from a completely different industry, so I really needed advice and guidance on how my teaching skills were developing.

The job coaching services were another area that Vantage really excelled. I got to work one-on-one with their Jobs Coach in developing a highly effective resume and cover letter that would showcase what I could bring to the table. They even developed a video highlighting the advantages of my multi-lingual background and how that could be a benefit to a future school.

Something must have worked. One school, who was advertising for native speakers, asked me to come in based on the “strength of my materials.” And I was talking to multiple schools…

I would recommend Vantage to anyone – particularly those who want to change career paths.

At first, I couldn’t decide between this program and other choices that "guaranteed" teaching jobs. After speaking to the Course Director for a whole afternoon. I realized that Vantage would deliver a program that was much more personalized to my particular requirements.

I was dead right about getting individual attention.

Even a week after the course was over, I spent a whole afternoon, crafting a killer resume with their help. It was a one-on-one private session that I probably couldn’t have gotten elsewhere.

Their “Jobs Coach” really analyzed my background to help me best position myself by highlighting my skills and previous results. They explained that too many resumes end up being just a laundry list of traditional job duties. Vantage really showcased my skills and taught me to highlight the results those skills obtained. I hardly recognized myself in my new resume.

We did our teaching practicum to college students who were fun to teach. I was taught lesson planning, classroom management and provided with a plethora of resources that make the transition into teaching seamlessly.

We had eight in our class, which to me is about right size. The other TEFL providers on my short list typically had class sizes about twice that, which may be ok for the lecture style learning, but not individualized for the training I was looking for.

My decision to choose Vantage has proved itself over and over again.I feel 100% more confident having finished this course then when I first arrived.
