TEFL Teacher in China

Description

You will be working at one of our partner schools delivering English lessons where the emphasis will be on developing the students’ oral skills and expanding their vocabulary. Those who are working with young children and students whose English is very basic will be accompanied by a Chinese co-teacher. The school will provide all resources required to teach, but you are encouraged to use them creatively as possible to produce a fun and engaging lesson. Person requirements
We’re looking for open-minded, creative, energetic, motivated graduates. Although this is a teaching position, we’re happy to talk to applicants with other career paths in mind.
Person specification
· Educated to degree level.
It doesn’t matter what subject your degree is in or what grade you’re expected to achieve. Final years students can apply.
· TEFL
It is required that you complete a TEFL course before you begin teaching in China.
· Experience of delivering presentations
As you will be leading and delivering lessons, it is important that you are comfortable talking in front of large groups.
· Excellent organisational and planning skills
You will be expected to plan your lessons in advance to ensure that your students cover all of the required material. We will provide you with lots of advice on how to plan lessons during your induction

Qualifications

You must be degree educated and have completed a TEFL qualification prior to beginning your contract. For applicants based in England we offer a taught TEFL programme for a cost of £375. If you already have a TEFL qualification we will find you a school free of charge but you will not be able to access the ongoing support and guidance offered to those who were placed on our comprehensive TEFL taught programme.

Placement
Our partners in China have links with schools across the country, including in Beijing and Shanghai.
Induction
Successful candidates will be invited to attend an induction prior to travelling. The induction will provide candidates with valuable skills and advice that will prepare them for their new life as a teacher in China. At the induction you will be taught some basic mandarin, receive advice on lesson planning by a fully qualified English Teacher.
TEFL
As part of the induction programme, prospective teachers will receive classroom based TEFL training taught by a fully qualified teacher.
