Volunteer to Teach English in Laos

Program Description

Founded in 2013 this project aims to provide long term solutions to sustainable development and poverty reduction in Laos through the provision of education. Based in Luang Prabang volunteers will work with motivated young Laotians helping them to develop their skills and reach their full potential. You will work with a wide variety of students, teaching both practical and conversational English across different levels.

Volunteers work from Monday to Friday and are involved with both planning and delivering lessons. You will be offered the opportunity to teach in a range of diverse environments. Projects include teaching monks at the local monasteries, students at Santiphab high school and disabled students at the Pikhan English Centre.

Volunteers will not only get the opportunity to work with motivated students but will also experience teaching in a range of diverse environments. You will also be able to explore the surrounding area in your free time. The project is located in Luang Prabang which is currently a designated World Heritage Site.

Qualifications

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and fluent in English. We are also looking for volunteers who will easily adapt to a new culture and are flexible and self-motivated. Although teaching experience is not required to join the project, any previous experience you do have willof course be a benefit to the project.

Volunteers will also be required to obtain a police background check from their home country and must bring a copy with them.

What`s Included

The cost to join this project starts at £680 for 2 weeks. Included in this price is airport pick-up, support from staff in Laos, training, equipment and materials, 24 hour in country support, accommodation, a guided tour of Luang Prabang, a donation to the project and daily breakfast.
