Program Description

Teaching in Schools:

Volunteers will work in schools with students from a variety of backgrounds. While you will primarily assist with English instruction, you will also have the opportunity to with drama, sports, maths or music depending on your interests.

Teaching in Children’s Homes, Community Centres and Orphanages:

Volunteers in this position will teach English through games and songs. These children love attention and affection, and while this can be a difficult position, it is highly rewarding. If you know any Spanish at all, that would be helpful but not necessary.

Teaching Adults:

Volunteers with this position will be placed in a wide range of institutions and Social Assistance Centres. Your students will be adults from all age groups in small classes with you are the instructor. This programme is available throughout the year and these adult students are very enthusiastic about learning English.

Volunteers can be placed with children or adults in schools, orphanages or homes depending on timing and school holidays. Your teaching load is usually 10-12 hours a week. There will be plenty of time for you to explore Buenos Aires and go on a lot of fun excursions.

The School Calendar:

Term 1 – Last week of February to the second week of July
Term 2 – Last week of July to the third week of December

LP Community Programme

During your time as a volunteer, you might be asked to go to the LP Community Centre to assist with language workshops. This will usually take place twice a week for two hours in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with children and adults while experiencing other activities like Yoga, Arts and Crafts, Music, Dancing and more.
