Program Description

Join on this maritime adventure and sail to some incredible destinations that include Casablanca, Cape Verde, the Bahamas, and Antigua. We also have an exciting new programme of going on Spanish river voyages!

We take participants over the age of 16 and from around the world. Our goal is to have an equal number of physically disabled and able-bodied crew with a maximum of 40 individuals for each sailing. Integration is our goal regardless of gender, culture, religion, background, and age.

We guarantee an important role for each crew member with no barriers based on gender, age, disability, or ability. Teamwork is what makes our journeys successful and so we need each individual’s strength. Sailing and being a crew member is challenging, but one that can be met through teamwork.

We feature a Youth Leadership at Sea Programme for those aged 16 to 25. This programme was created to promote diversity awareness, leadership skills, self-esteem, and confidence. We are also proud of our Rehabilitation Programme. This was developed with Armed Forces regiments and other charities to help develop the confidence of those who have experienced life-altering injuries. We help these individuals learn their new strengths and abilities.

Tenacious and Lord Nelson were built to allow people from all sensory and physical abilities to have a successful role and are the only two tall ships in the world developed for this purpose.

Features on board include:

Lifts between decks for those with limited mobility or wheel chair users
In the event of an emergency, bunks have been fitted with vibrator pads to alert people who are hearing impaired or deaf
In order to maneuver the ship, we have outfitted joystick assisted steering or power assisted steering for those with limited mobility
During briefing session, we have outfitted an induction loop in the mess room to help individuals with hearing impairments
Wide aisles below decks
Low level fittings
In order to help visually impaired crew navigate, we have a guidance track outfitted on deck
To steer the ship, we have a speaking compass to enable visually impaired crew
