Program Description

Students in the Chengdu program will have the opportunity to explore one of the most fascinating cities in China. This is a culturally interesting area that is also a hub for communication, transportation, and economic activities. Learn Mandarin, a useful language that will help improve your future chances of employment. Live in the heart of a bustling city that has retained its cultural roots and that has continued to be steeped in history.

This is a high caliber course that will allow students to work on Chinese Studies or Chinese Language. There are a variety of electives that are provided alongside the language course including cuisine, history, and Tai Chi. This is an intensive language program that provides students with the opportunity to learn a year and a half of language study in only one semester. Students interested in Chinese Studies are encouraged to attend classes instructed in English. Program participants who elect this option must enroll in one Elementary Chinese Language I class and also supplement their studies with classes in politics, government, literature, and Chinese history.

Part of the immense value of this program is not just the high quality of the courses and instructors, it is also the opportunity to be immersed in local culture. Go on excursions to museums and historically significant sites. Enjoy trips into nature and broaden your understanding of the area.
