Program Description

We offer a comprehensive education experience to our students. The time spent studying at the Instituto Franklin-Universidad de Alcala, is considered a fundamental period of academic development for the students. This program reaches beyond the usual study abroad options by treating this academic experience as a global experience.

Throughout more than 20 years of experience, our academic programs have transformed our Institute into a reference higher education institution and as a leader in Spain for specialized teaching, and study abroad programs. The Spanish Studies Program was established in 1987.

Objectives of the program:
- Be exposed to and participate in practical and intercultural activities: volunteering, sports, service learning and internships.
- Develop our students´ intercultural skills, in order to build up their attitudes, beliefs, and communication styles.
- Offer a diversity of courses suited for students with different interests. Courses range from traditional language and culture to more specific ones
such as Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Cultural Studies, and Humanities, among others.
- Provide students with a unique opportunity to learn, live, and travel in Spain.

The city of Alcalá de Henares combines the best of a medieval and modern town. Considered an attractive and safe college town where students can get around easily and enjoy the beauty of its historic buildings and plazas. Trains for Madrid depart every 7 minutes. Its public transport system offers comfortable and user friendly service connecting all zones of the city. Centrally located and easily accessible by public transportation. Madrid is just 35 minutes away by commuter train or bus.

The Spanish Studies Program takes place in the historical city of Alcalá de Henares. Its origins date back to the Roman Complutum in the I Century B.C. and the subsequent Muslim reign in 711 as Alkla-Na

- Academic Registration: 4 courses (12 academic credits) to choose from the Spanish Studies offer or regular courses at the University of Alcalá
(except courses in some schools like medicine or nursing).
