Program Description

Participants with this study abroad program will have the opportunity to learn about the contemporary multinational city of Moscow, with all of its diversity. This city features a strong cultural thread through history from St. Basil’s Cathedral’s colorful cupolas to the collections of famed artwork. Participants will be placed in small classes with plenty of individual attention from Russian professors at the Moscow State University. This highly respected institution boasts experienced professors in teaching Russian as a second language. Classes are held for levels from beginner to advanced and have morning intensive language lessons and afternoon studies of folklore, history, culture, music, and art. A nearby field trip or a Moscow city excursion will be scheduled weekly according to course work.

• Suzdal and Vladimir 2 day trip
• Tretaykov Art Gallery and Museum of Napoleonic War
• Excursion to the site of Dostoevsky’s heroes and Trips to Dostoevsky Museum
• Red Square field trip and Lenin’s Tomb
• Stalin’s Bunker tours and St. Basil’s Cathedral
•Two Kremlin Armory and Kremlin visits
• Neva River boat rides
•Moscow bus tour
•3 day trip to St. Petersburg by train: 2 nights on the train in a sleeping car, 2 nights at a hotel in St. Petersburg, visits to Peterhof, the Hermitage, Catherine the Great's Palace, Peter and Paul Fortress
