Program Description

Istanbul is situated between West and East and has proved to be strategic and of cultural, economic, and military import. This is a melting pot of nation that has been impacted by a wide range of civilizations and societies. With ties to Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, this is an ideal location for studying the Eurasian subcontinents global development. This program covers contemporary politics of Turkey, the growth of the European Union and Turkey’s relationship with it, and contemporary issues with political development in the Middle East. This program also features plenty of exciting and engaging excursions to complete the culturally immersive experience.


Included social and cultural events:

Overnight trips to:
• Ancient towns in southeastern Turkey including Urfa and Mardin
• The otherworldly land of Cappadocia and it cave early Byzantine churches

•Visits to the Grand Bazaar, the world’s oldest shopping center
•Two 1-day Istanbul city tours including visits to Topkapi Palace, home of the Ottoman sultans, the majestic Hagia Sophia, and the beautiful Blue Mosque
